Are these meds OK?

I have not been able to get to the specialist until next Tuesday.  And yesterday I had to have a tooth pulled, (My teeth seem to be falling apart.)   And the dentist gave me amoxicillin for the infection and tramadol for the pain.  Both say should not be taken in cases of liver problems.   I am taking only half the dose he prescribed of the pain medication, and will stop it as soon as the pain stops. But the amoxicillin should be completely taken, to clear up the infection.  What should I do? I don't want to cause any more damage to my liver!

amoxicillin is the one my hep doc said was ok to take.
it's considered "safer" than most.
some of the new "narrow spectrum" antiB's you want to avoid, such as macrobid, I just learned.
the main thing is you can get a serious infection when on chemo and having dental work done, so the safest thing is to A. have the work done that needs doing, and B. prevent infection which you are more susceptible to on tx.

If you have a "sensitive nerve" on one tooth, you may want to hold off my liver guy said.
reason being, it isn't unusual to have a tooth, particularly molars with filings, getting very sensitive during tx. I have one tooth, that has acted up twice in 8 months, but settled back down.  Rather than getting a root canal, also great danger of infection and some of nerve damage, and a crown...I've opted to hold off since it has only bothered me for a few days twice, and I'm halfway through tx. In theory after tx it should go back to being fine...it's the Riba that makes nerves hyper sensitive.

however, you do want any bad teeth pulled, cleaning etc. the healthier you can keep your mouth during tx, the less chance of a systemic infection.

You should yake the full dose prescribes...(4 pills usually) before the visit.
the reason is the bacteria released during cleaning or pulling can effect the heart...you don't want infections caused by this plauque, trust me...so take the prescribed amount.
the only side effect I had was a little loose bowel, no big deal.
take care.

every medicine goes to liver after absorpton though portal circulaton except those which are sublingual. but amoxycillin dose need not be changed unless you have decompensated liver. Do you have?
