Hi they had to do that with my one year old once. I was so shocked but they said his veins were so small that this would be the least painful most efficient way to do it.
Thanks for sharing, I had forgotten about that, it was 35 years ago :)
I'm a very hard stick myself and when I went into get a colonoscopy done the staff brought out a scan machine like the one I linked below. Also, I've had a doctor take blood from my groin but I know for a fact, only doctors can do that in California, phlebotomist can't go below, they can go in hands but not feet, at least that's what I've always been told. good luck!.

Why can't the blood technician draw your blood? Could you explain.
I agree with hrsepwrguy. There is always a way to draw the blood. If your doctor is telling you that they can't draw blood, then it is time to find a new doctor, one who is will to do whatever is needed to treat you.
Believe me, there is always a vein some place. They usually draw from the antecubital fossa (the inside of the elbow joint). But they can draw from hands, wrists, arms, neck, and groin. They can draw from the feet too, but they prefer not too. And there are more places. They can insert a port if they have to and leave it in just for blood draws while you are on treatment.
However, you most likely do not need a port. You need a doctor who will treat you and a very good phlebotomist to draw the blood.
I have had them draw blood from my neck before, I am a really hard draw and they always find a way, if your doc is telling you that they can't draw blood, it is time to find a new doc.
Have a great day
Why cant they draw blood? Do they have a nurse who is a super expert a tough draws?
Can they use a vein in a hand or a foot? Hurts but works
