My viral load dropped from 6,312,000 to 120,000 in 2 weeks. My doctor had me get blood work every week for the first month though. They need to keep an eye on your hemoglobin.
That was a good move on your part. Yes, the results should be very informative.
I didn't have a PCR until week four but wish I'd had a requisition floating around. It'll be very useful to you to see those two and a half week results.
All I knew from my weekly hematology and biochemistry blood work was that things were on the move. The doc thought my big drop in hemoglobin almost from the get-go was a good sign but that didn't reassure me much.
So did your doc set up a schedule for your routine bloodwork? How often has he scheduled testing for routine bloodwork and viral load?
And let us know when you get the results!
Susan
Make sure the orders include a viral load test (PCR Quant) and aren't just for CBC, CMP, and TSH (which you also need). You won't see a difference in your HCV levels if they don't test them.
I still have not gotten a call back from my DR and I am pissed. I am on heavy duty drugs and ya think they would be a little more on it. I am going to raise cain tomorrow even it it means a trip to their office. My blood work yesturday was CBC my bi annual aids test(neg so far) and 3 different tubes for 3 different ways to test the HCV levels. I will be very interested to see these results myself. I am going to call the dr because they answer the phones til 9 pm and sometimes they leave word in my file.
If they did a viral load test you probably won't see the results until next week at the earliest. Red and white cell counts they can do in a few hours or overnight max. The labs to do a Polymerase Chain Reaction aren't in every city and take awhile, anyway, even if you happen to live in one of those cities.
I live in wonderful, OC, CA
You live a lot closer than I did. My blood had to take a 3 hour trip to an airport in Texas before flying to LabCorps subcontracting lab on Sepulveda Blvd. in L.A.
Yeah, PCR's take so long, so expect to wait.
Still, maybe arrange with the office to send you copies of all your bloodwork in the mail or through an email.
It makes a difference to be able to see your numbers yourself as you go along and to have a handy record.
