If HGB stands for Hemoglobin mine is 14.4. Thanks to all for helping me better understand my blood work, it's all very new to me.
Thanks Willbb .... I meant to add that they need to be much higher before its a real concern. You explain things so much more clearly. ;)
The very slightly "larger " platlets are absolutely nothing to worry about. This is very common while treating as the platelet production is trying to keep up ...younger ones just are slightly larger...
Best..Will
This site explains allow the CBC blood count stuff......in pretty simple terms. I had wondered what all of that was too! :-)

Aha..mean platelet count size it is. Yes, mine were noted as being larger than normal also. The baby ones (the new ones) are larger. The meds cause hemolytic anemia~ what is your HGB??
MPV - Mean Platelet Volume
Ref. Range 7.5 - 11.5
Measures the average volume (size) of your platelets. Platelets vary in size, with young platelets being larger than older ones.
Higher-than-normal MPV is associated with an increased risk of heart attacks and stroke.
That being said, I went back and looked at my values through out treatment and they tended to fluctuate from week to week.

That sounds good. I couldn't find MPV on my labs, but these meds make stuff go out of range, that is normal. My MCV, MCH and MCHC are all out of normal range, and your # is barely out of range, s it stands~
Maybe one of the experts will come swimming down this stream, and tell you soon, Fish
Hi Fish: Great to hear you are doing so well. MPV stands for Mean Platelet Volume. It is the average size of platelets in a volume of blood. Cheers, GB
