Blurred Vision

I just posted Friday that I had received a positive initial test for Hep C antibody...despite alt leves over 1300 a few days ago (Thursday of this past week) I have felt fairly good...a little nauseous but not bad.  Today however I am having blurred vision (normally 20/20)...I haven't experienced this before---is this a normal side effect of high liver enzymes?  Should I be concerned???

I had gestational diabetes, which my 2nd child--a year ago, but do not, to my knowledge at this time.  My doc put in for the Genotype test...maybe the same as HCV RNA test, not sure.  I go to the dr. tomorrow to do some other labs...I think they are rechecking liver enzymes.  However this is my family doctor, not the GI and I don't think she is extremely well versed in these issues...but I know if I had a question she couldn't answer she would try to find it or call the GI I am scheduled to see (march 10)

I have no history of stroke or cardiovascular issues...however do have relatives with diabetes and heart disease (grandfather--now deceased).  I have always considered myself to be healthy...maintain a healthy weight, exercise, chase my kids...but I will be asking the dr. tomorrow about the diabetes and see if it is something that has been checked etc.

Other than having my children and this incident, I hadn't been to the dr. in about 4 years or so--I do keep up with my annual female appt. but haven't actually had a full physical since I was in the military which was when I was 19 or 12 years ago.  I had a screening while pregnant for HIV and anything else they test you for, for life insurance and everything was fine at that time.

I am freaking out much less since Friday...had a little time to read and digest the information, which is good.  Friday I was feeling a little overwhelmed.  Knowledge is power so I have just been reading as much as I can and looking at as many different views as I can, so that whatever is thrown at me, I will have some intelligent questions to ask.

Hi Tonya,

No, HCV isn’t noted to directly change vision; even with elevated liver enzymes. Do you have diabetes, by chance? High blood sugar can caused blurred vision over time; your serum glucose would be stated in a ‘comprehensive metabolic panel’ if you have a copy handy.

If you have a history of stroke or other cardiovascular issue, it’d be a good idea to follow up; in fact, if it persists, you should let your doctor know regardless of history.

Have you had the HCV RNA test yet? I’m trying to remember where your at in regards to HCV diagnosis?

Good luck, and let us know how things progress—

Bill
