Who told you should take these supplements? There is a reason why your friend may be taking these supplements, and varies from person to person, that's why I ask. You may find it can be helpful to add supplements if you have a deficiency or if you're not absobing the required nutrition from your diet. I would be very cautious about taking supplements.
Everyone's different and should be getting the proper amount of essential vitamins and minerals. Supplements are okay for some people with hep c. Don't take higher than the recommeded doses if you choose to take supplements. I don't think you should take the supplements that were mentioned while on TX.
My doctor even said no multivitams while on TX
I agree with all the advices given to you above. In fact, I wouldn't take ANY supplements during tx. If you want to take them later, just wait till you are done with tx, then do whatever you want to do, but still ask for your doctor's opinion. The problem with supplements - they are basically unregulated, you have no idea what you buy, what concentration, how it was made and where...
Diane is right, don't take supplements without an OK from your doc. These meds have special requirements and only medical professionals can advise you on what you can safely ingest.
DON'T TAKE ANYTHING WITHOUT GETTING YOUR DOCTOR'S APPROVAL WHILE ON TX!!!!!
Your friend may be well intentioned, but just because something may cleanse the liver for people who aren't on tx, doesn't mean it is safe to mix with the powerful drugs we are taking. It could even prevent these drugs from doing their job. I read that Splenda could even block absorption of Ribavirin. So please ask your doctor first.
