I'm on a TMC435 trial right now and they told me that the lowest level of detection on their PCR test was 10 iu/ml which is almost as good as a TMA test. Of course I won't know the numbers until I am unblinded after the treatment period.
Wonderful to be able to say I'm cured, huh ?. It must be such a relief to be free. It takes a toll on us even if we don't think about it regularly.
Phase 3,same under 10 test all tru...i am cured
Hi-
did they use that same test throughout the trial? what phase trial did you do?

Thanks for all the responses. Anyone know the cost of the most sensitive tests privately or with insurance? I know it depends on your insurance of course. How expensive can they be?
In my bocep trial at 20 weeks test result was -- HCV RNA not detected.
Qualitative tests suck. They are invented to save time and money not to give
better answers.
We really only need 2 tests in my mind and they both should be PCR Quants.
The HCV RNA Real time Quant < 43 and for anything below NGI QuantaSure < 2
All the Qualitative test does is keep you guessing and since they do not need to
to give you an actual number false positives are more likely.
No test goes to ZERO so I`d rather take a number , it is the next best thing.
If you are UND <2 you are very UND and that is the goal.
FYI , the NGI QuantaSure is temporarily not available since June28
so it is back to <43 unless you go Quest and do the TMA Quants which
my hepatologist apparently does not care for.

In my Bocep trial, tey were using < 10 copies to be UD
Have a good one Can! you can say the tx damaged you permanently! or you live really close to some high voltage wires or something! Do you live anywhere near three mile isle by the way! LOL
When i wrote..........for someone that was still dectected it would read <25 HCV RNA DETECTED.
That would apply to someone that was still detected but less then 25 iu/ml.
LOl dave, its sad when you can't think clearly is a good thing while on tx. I just got to figure out now what to blame it on.
I meant 12 and 48 weeks. Sometimes I think I'm developing early dementia.
I guess the most sensitive tests are too expensive for them to use. I would think they would want to use them at 12,24 weeks and 24 post.
Mine was reported as <25 HCV RNA NOT DETECTED, for someone that was still dectected it would read <25 HCV RNA DETECTED.
I might be wrong but it seems to me i was told at the end of the trial that it was now <43, either way like your doctor said i would be extremely surprised if your not und.

Plus I had to type my apologies on this Freaking phone. Took the 8 week blood. The doctor said hell be extremely surprised if not und. Just trying to patiently wait for the true labs next week.
ROFL, now if you could only have a talk with my ex wife....
Kinda ridiculous trying to clarify something bill already said very clearly. You're the man Bill.
Oh, bill already said, a mind like a sieve I have.
If you were und with the same test used I believe it will say <25 undetected
I found thread about. It means you are still detectable, but they are unable or not permitted to quantify it. Basically what bill said. Most important.t you are not und yet.
<25/detected, does that mean the person still has the virus? If my 12 wk VL says that, then I am still detected? I'm now getting confused as to what to expect when I pick up my 12VL test next week, likely before the doctor gets it. I get the hepimax (spelling?). What am I looking for? Good or bad?
thx
Sigh...
"If I understood the previous discussions correctly, the test is probably capable of applying a qualitative result, but is prohibited due to regulations and the like. Therefore, they use the term ‘<25/detected’."
Should have read:
"If I understood the previous discussions correctly, the test is probably capable of applying a **quantitative** result, but is prohibited due to regulations and the like. Therefore, they use the term ‘<25/detected’."
I believe the same test can be used, but with the language <25 IU/mL/HCV RNA undetectable.
If I understood the previous discussions correctly, the test is probably capable of applying a qualitative result, but is prohibited due to regulations and the like. Therefore, they use the term ‘<25/detected’.
In other words, if a test is FDA approved with a lower limit of say, 25 then they can’t divulge a lower quant. number, although they might know what it is.
….I think :o).
Sorry I keep screwing up my typing and spelling.
I guess that makes sence. Does a different test need to be used to declare us und. And will it say result is und.
