Day 8 of tx, side effects before Victrelis

Hey there!  So far........my sides have been minimal and manageable.  So far, I have had: Flu like symptoms, headaches, stuffy nose, throat feeling like it's closing, (for me, all of those subside with Advil) slight fatigue, slight weakness, slight nausea.  Today, Day 8, I think I have a little RIBA rash on the inside of my upper arm.  I took Benadryl and am trying not to touch the area.  Still itches.  If it itches tomorrow, I will try something topical.

QUESTION/POLL......

Was there any week(s) that were noticeably better, noticeably worse for you?  Did you notice any changes right away or later when you added VIC?  Or for those of you on INVICEK, what did you notice when you stopped taking it?

What time schedule did you choose for all your tx meds?

Any African Americans out there who cleared in trials with VIC???

Thanks for your advice and support.  Wishing everyone the strength and endurance, to get all the way to SVR!!

Usually the sides worsen in time, the beginning is the 'flu' symptoms if you get them but as time goes on the other more serious ones erupt....

Riba rash (which is caused by interferon) can generally be managed by using a good solid moisturizing lotion SEVERAL times a day on the affected area. (Ie; Gold Bond is awesome) but once the rash starts to disappear you can't stop using the lotion or it springs right back up, as many of us found out the hard way.

Yeah, I added to that thread but I have never seen that product.  Can't have the fan directly on me because I have Raynaud's Syndrome and cold air causes me pain.  Plus, I'm one of those people who gets sick when I sleep with air on/windows open, unless it's super hot (like it was the other day).  I can do an icepack though, so thanks for the 'cold' remedy reminder.  Thanks for your help and best to you during tx :)

I thought I had heard the rash was from Interferon but.....it started within an hour after my dose of RIBA yesterday.  I had the shot last Thursday, so that's why I suspected the RIBA.  I did buy some Gold Bond Lotion but it kinda has a medicinal stink to it.  Will put some on tonight.  Thanks so much for the tips.

Someone posted that the boudreaux butt paste works well on the rash/itch. I don't remember who but it might be worth a try. I don't have the itch that bad yet and it has been managable with benadryl also I sleep with a fan blowing directly on me, seems to help.

The RIBA rash kicked Benadryl's butt :(  Barely took the edge off the itch.  This morning I put on some Cortisone 10, which helped......for about an hour.
