Doctor Says

Hi Everyone
Went to my Reg. Doctor and the clinic is going to start the treatment there and he had told me Not to start my next round of tx on Feb 12 !!! Because i didn't respond the 1 time and that i wouldn't respond on the 2 round.. So he gave me another Docter name Doc Sheith out of fresno Ca. that is doing the clincal test with the inhauler and shot that was just FDA appove..
My liver doctor didn't say anything about the new Drug that is out,But he did say that the drug will be FDA approve in about 1 to 5 years, So he stuck me back on the tx again as I said let do another round (YUCK)

Is there anyone doing the New treatment??

Kenny

Depending on your situation, liver and other health, going back to IFN/Riba does not doom the tx to failure just because it did not work the first time. Adjustments to they type of peg, amount of riba, duration of treatment and labs and dianostics along the way 'can' provide a different result.  Doing the same thing as the first time does not make any sense to me.  But if you have an astute doc who is familiar with possible variations to standard of care you could come out differently.  If you intend to pursue a trial you should become educated with the trial protocols (length, duration, drugs used, placebo etc) to determine if a trial is right for you.  The intent is to resolve the hcv and not just try something different.

When you say "new treatment", I assume you're talking about VX-950? VX-950 is latest greatest research drug, in case you haven't heard about it. It's in clinical trials right now, I'm participating in that trial (a few others here are too). They have an upcoming VX-950 trial for non-responders like you. Might want to think about trying to get into it, the drug looks pretty promising right now.

I haven't heard of the inhaler treatment you mention, you might want to carefully research that one before agreeing to sign up to it. Also, if you decide to repeat standard interferon and ribavirin treatment, be aware that you can increase your odds of success by both increasing standard dosage of IFN and/or ribavirin and/or extending treatment beyond 48 weeks to something like 72 weeks.

There will be others along soon with more info. Best of luck and welcome aboard.
