Yes, 1600 mg would be very high. My hubby is a large man, and a typical dose for him is 1200 mg. One year, he was treated with Consensus Interferon and 1400 mg of riba and that was very rough. Hubby is Geno 1, BTW.
I still think 400 mg 2x/day is probably right for the OP who is Geno 3, but I would call and confirm w doctor today.

my mistake...i took 600 mg ribapak + 200 mg ribavarin in the a.m. then 600 mg ribpak again in the evening.  Pegasys every friday evening 180mcg.  Is that more than the average person??  Probably one of the reasons i had such a hard time with tx

Just thought I'd mention that Genotype 1 on Triple follows a slightly different drug protocol when it comes to Ribavarin compared to  Genotypes 2 & 3. In general Geno's 2 & 3 usually take a fixed dose of 800 mg/day whereas Genotype 1 tends to take a weight-based dose of 800.

Yes, I think that's correct. I believe 400 mg twice a day is correct for G 3.

800mg a day would be right as thats the normal dosage for geno 2 and 3 under SOC..... 400 would be way to low........... Good luck

I read one of your earlier posts that said you started on 23 Jan & you are a Geno 3 . You indicated you take one shot of Peg a week and four pills a day (which is 800 mg) a day. That sounds about right but truly the only way to make sure is to look through your papers or on the label or call your doctor. Could you have possibly misunderstood him? I just mean not knowing more of the facts 400 mg of Riba a day seems low.

The first week can be really anxiety provoking just getting everything set up and waiting for side effects to happen. You mentioned a nurse called you to check on you. Maybe you could call her to make sure.♥
