Drug Induced Hepatitis

I was told by my doctor that I have drug induced Hepatitis from taking Augmenten. The symptoms have not gone away and it has been 3 weeks. I am itching all over, Nausea, Chills, Can't eat, and I can't sleep more than 2 hours a day because of the itching and nausea. My urine is dark colored and my stools are light colored. My Bilirubin level is 12. I am taking Colestid to help reduce it. It works some but does not get rid of the itching. My skin is totaly Jaundiced and my eyes are completly yellow. Any suggestions are welcome.

Thank You
P C

we really need to watch augmenten (very bad for liver)...someone else recently said they were put on this by the dentist...there must be another choice of antibiotics.

I had severe itching prior to tx, it was so bad it's what initially made me go to the doctor.  I was up all hours of the night.  Found a few things that offered some relief...Village Naturals Spa Gentle Exfoliating Scrub (Sugar)available at Wally World...helped tremendously because it has oils in it as well.  Benadryl helps too if you can take it, ask your doctor.  Also, Cetaphil Cream is a wonderful moisturizer with no perfumes or added stuff, use after showering, it was recommended by my dermatologist.  Hope this helps you.

I am sorry no one seems to have any suggestions for the skin relief, tell the dr the med is not working as well, there might be a different one they can prescribe, or consult with a dermatologist.  your choices might be limited due to the hepatitis and the fact that there aren't many liver friendly alternatives.
