Exercise

This will probably be my last posted question for awhile but I was seeing how many of you have found that exercise helps with your tx and sx. I do understand that some people are so sick that they can't do any exercise and for those few I‘m sorry but do any of you out there find that it helps you? I've found that so far I've been lucky with no sx however, I have noticed a huge difference in the way I feel when I don't work out.

When I don't do some type of exercise I feel very fatigued. It's snowed here for awhile now so everyday no matter what I went jogging or walking outside. At the behest of my better half though I was asked to please stop it because god knows I don't need a cold on top of these shots. Anyway, since I haven't went running for three days I've felt tired and a little unfocused. It might all be in my head who knows. Anyway, last night I lifted weights for about and hour and felt awesome afterwards I woke up this morning bright and early in here at work and am being very productive (except for slacking and writing you guys!)

I took 800 mg/ riba for 6 months, geno 3 too.  Now I remember, I relapsed - lack of riba was one of the reasons.

Sorry to hear that. I hope all is well now. I will listen to my body but I only take 800mg of Riba and am only supposed to treat for six months I don't see it getting a whole lot worse. But then again who knows? It could very well sneak up on me I'm just trying to stay positive right now.

I go with desrts thinking here,  walking is all I recomend and not to much either (not to little either)
When I did to much I got knocked out for weeks and really sick once coulden´t swallow and it felt like my whole cranium was infected really painful had high fever also.

The day before this happened had been out with the dog climbing mountains for 5 hours.

Had to go to hospital when penicillin didn´t kicked in at first but eventually they did, it was the worst two week I ever experinced I think.
If it has continued a little more I would have been forced to quit tx to early.

I had no sx on neither of my two tx first 4 weeks but then the hell started.
theres a lot of people who doesn´t complete tx be careful listen to your body!!!!

I long to excercise there is something going on when I excercise on the treadmill my feet ache

the worst is the feeling like I am going to pass out and the dizziness  you guys make me jealous

I loved working with weights and taking brisk walks  and riding my bike

my brain is like well frozen or what I don't know I just cannot wrap my mind around letting me do it

I am not on tx yet but on a diet and eating well and trying to get enough sleep and get my IR problem under control and excercise is super important part of this

I work 15 hours a day and it is stressful mind stuff  I need to excercise

I am not sure what my resistance is to doing excercise

I am telling you it is weird  my brain is going for it but my body won't move?  Any one else experience this???  I read the muscle loss issues thread and that is a given HCV has messed with my muscles and joints over the years

Since I have had HCV and most likely Hep B too  for so many years with many symptoms  starting wtih leg cramps continually and neck and back pains in my late 20's  I still could excercise

Then the panic attacks started in my early 30's  and continued only getting worse and more often  but I could still excercise

The older I got my RA really kicked in and  I also became IR from the HCV  which caused weight gain for me but I could still excercise even into my late 50;s

Now I can't exercise I know it sounds strange but my body just will not do it???

My Mom is 85 has a 65 year old boyfriend and rides her bike every morning and goes dancing twice a week she has RA pretty bad but that is not stopping her

What;s up ?? With me???

I am only 62 and can go up and down stairs and do physical things like lifting and moving things in my gallery with my other business

I am in and out of the car an walking is involved sometimes a lot of walking and it seems to be fine I just do not understand why I cannot excercise???

Excercise for me now when forced I am down and sore and miserable afterwards it just does not make any sense

There are specific types and amounts of exercise that can help to keep your serotonin levels balanced without using SSRI drugs. A  brisk walk for 40-45 minutes 3 or 4 times a week is enough to help many keep this part of their brain chemistry regulated. I don't see the value in over exercising while trying to fight anemia and other problems, but this would seem to be an amount of exercise most could handle.

It's hard to start a new exercise regimen at any time, but especially when you are on treatment. You would be amazed, however, if you got yourself some light dumbbells and hired a personal trainer for a session or two to show you some simple, low impact resistance exercises. Who cares how fast or slow you progress. But you'd find after three or four months that you felt better and were stronger. You'd also need to buy bigger dumbbells. This kind of work builds enormous self-esteem.

And also, this is the most important exercise after you are cured of the HCV and live into your 90s. The weight training is critical to staying young, avoiding osteoporosis, and combatting weight gain.

You all are inspiring. I haven't been exercising at all--not that I ever did much. But before I started tx I would take lovely long walks. Lately, I've felt so tired (and run these low-grade temperatures) that have made me wonder if I could get out there and not be able to get back! But, I've got to get moving again. I'm sure it's really important for so many reasons and now that I'm on the Procrit, I'm goign to get out there today. Even though it's raining. And I melt in the rain. (J/K)

No question about it. Motivation is tough, but I "just do it" and always get a boost.

I don't feel more fatigued if I don't exercise, but where I DO notice it is in my moods, my outlook....just feel kinda flat. I do 30 minutes of yoga each morning, a hatha vinyasa flow that works out the kinks after sleeping. And it helps me focus on the parts of me that are in good working order!

I miss walking as it's so icy on the town streets here (no sidewalks) but as soon as the darn stuff melts, I hope to go for daily walks again.

I think it's important to do some activity that we enjoy and that we can tolerate.

My experience is exactly like yours. Recently I fell off the wagon a bit. I had two late nights in a row. My hemaglobin dropped. I felt really bad. But even before I felt better I dragged myself to the gym and got started again. Now a week later I'm back on my game.

The only thing I've found is that you can overdo the cardio. If I do something close to what I did before tx, for example 40 or 50 minutes of cardio, I really will be tired at the end of the day. For some reason, weight lifting doesn't create that problem, maybe because you rest in between sets.

Thanks for the advice that does make sense now I guess. It seems like everyone around me is sick. Friends, family, random people in stores and I'm completely fine. So I guess there is some positive stuff about being on tx! I like walking and running outside in the snow it seems to really clear my lungs plus when you get back inside a warm house you can sit in front of the fire and it makes it all worth it.

Aboslutely, stay as active as possible. And, you may be surprised to find out that your immune system is kind of ampped up. Many people have significant resistence to colds and flu and those kind of illnesses while on treatment. Tell your better half that you don't get colds by being cold - there's a little more biology to it.

I have to agree.....excercise makes a HUGE difference in the way I feel.  I'm in week 28/48. The biggest hurdle is the motivation to actually do it.

Usually before I even make it out of my front yard...I'm feeling better.

I'm trying yoga now....and finding it's alot harder than it looks, lol!!
