FACE IS BREAKING OUT BAD

Tonite i take my 10th injection, i'm doing 3x with Incivek, Ribavirin,Pegasys and i'm und at week 4 and week 8.The only real side effects that i have had is fatigue and bottom burning and have the bottom burning under control. Last week after 9th injection i started to get a rash on my forehead and now it has spread all over my face , neck  upper body. My face is starting to look like i'm in the beginning stages of leprosy. Has anyone else experienced the same and if so any suggestions.

Hi I am sorry to her of your problems and can sympathize.  The tx was difficult and that is an understatement since I am still suffering from finishing the Incivek on Saturday.  One day at a time is the best thing I can say
I have not slept in 3 nights however I can feel some very small positive changes which give me hope

Sorry to hear about having to cease tx. As I said in my post a few weeks back ,sometimes the rash can be a show stopper ,as it can manifest into something very serious in certain instances. It sounds like your doctor has made a good call ,given  stopping the Inci. and reducing Riba still had no effect on it.
Hopefully you heal quickly and given Vertex is conducting a trial currently that is only 12 weeks total, possibly with your RVR you may achieve success.
However ,if the unfortunate happens and you relapse ,there  are  many exciting treatment regimes being experimented with  currently  ,for use in the future..

Best to you.. and please keep us informed ...

So sorry to hear that you had to stop. Thank God that you had qualified docs treating you to recoginize the seriousness of your condition. I pray that you remain und.  Toby

I had to stop the incivek at week 11 for the doc classified my condition as serious. Since the then the rash has gotten worse even with the reduction of riba so it was suggested to stop all meds at week 13 they classified me as a 1% The Hep doc 2 U.C. Davis stated that sine i was undetected at week 4 there is still a good chance that the virus will stay undeteted. We shall see.

Hi Karl..I see from prior posts you were UND. at week 4. With that good early result if there is a serious adverse event,it seems stopping the Incivek a little early is being practiced, with little or no difference in  overall result for success according to the data that came out of studies
The key word is a " serious" event and  sometimes rash can turn into that, and only your doctor would know  if indeed it is enough to stop the INCI...
.Best to you...

Thanks for the feed back. I went to my Doctor on Monday and he is concerned and wants to see me this Friday and if my rash starts to blister he is going to stop the Incivek. I sure hope not for i only have 15 days left, oh so close. He gave me Benedryl. I called the Pharmacist and she told me that is is normal and to take oatmeal baths.. I'm taking the Benedryl and oatmeal baths, is seems to help the itch but the rash is getting worse.

Call your Dr ASAP and the Incivek and Pegysys folks asap too. Report all sx immediately.
Ought it not be rash, there have been instances where Lupus has occurred. Not to alarm you, but this is a slight possibilty.
Call and take care. Fight on and thank you for your courage and determination.
Healing thoughts to you

are you drinking AT LEAST a gallon of water a day. I think water is the magic ingredient during treatment. It helps wash out all the crap and the drugs and ugh!! Try more water if you are not do at least that amount.

week 10 seems to be magical week for the crap to hit the fan - I started having major rashes on my legs and now it is on my neck.  I have 3 more days of INC and can't wait to be done with it! Get some creme from the Doc and try not to scratch - Sunny

Yeah, I wondered how you were treating this too, because it might also be an allergic reaction to that.  I took a med years ago and had a major reaction to it.  Chicken pox like rash all over, including my face.  I agree with can-do, check with your doc and dermatologist asap.  It may be one of the treatment drugs, but it may not be.  Best to you.  Please post on the outcome.

Best that you contact your doctor and maybe see a dermatologist, have you had any problems with the rash that these meds can cause? And if so have you treated it with something that may cause a flare up of Rosacea?

During treatment i had problems with Rosacea and i remember another member here (jmjm) also had some problems.......... Good luck
