Fever at Week 5

On triple tx and took my 5th shot Friday.  I had an uneventful weekend but for a low grade fever Sunday night.  Although tired yesterday, I worked a 9-hour day.  I knew I had a fever starting in the afternoon.  Home to my sweats and my couch.  By 9 p.m. my fever was 102 and I was feeling really bad.  The fire breathing dragon that had occupied my hiney had been in hibernation, but reared (no pun intended) his ugly head yesterday.  I thought things were supposed to get a little better as time passed, but I am feeling like someone should take me to the woods and shoot me.  Does this treatment get easier or is it really each day / each week is different?

I can only comment on my own tx but I have found it increasingly difficult to function with every passing week.  There doesn't seem to be any routine to the sfx either.  I had to stop working after the fourth week and now I am struggling to do the shopping, housework etc for my family.  If anything I now just try to be spontaneous with chores - if I feel decent I try to get something done otherwise it's every man for himself at my house.  Working dog seems to me the only one worse off than most so we're not alone.  All I can say is you made it this far so you just have to do one day at a time.  Good luck and take care of yourself.

I'm on Inf/Riba, not triple, and have learned that things don't get easier with time.  However, I'm better prepared to adjust to the challenges as new sides pop up and go away with each coming week.  This is all like a rollercoaster ride that hopefully has a bright future for everyone as we get off.

Debbie,
I had a the chills and a fever after this first injection and have had a fever most weeks.  However it has never been as high as 102 and is usually between 99 and 100.6. It usually comes on in the afternoon.  I was totally caught of guard by this.  The other funny thing is that in the beginning I usually felt bad over the weekend.  With this last shot, Monday has been the worst and I think I am running a fever today as well.  Wonder if I can change my injection day?

I'm on my sixth shot of triple and one day I feel Gretchen the next terrible. I did my shot on Saturday, was fine Saturday and Sunday. Monday woke up sick to my stomach, felt like sh-- all day had to come home and go to bed. I think over the past week the fatigue is getting worse at first I was good, now it seems like each day im more tired. But my last blood test should good WBC and no anemia. I go tomorrow for another CBC. Everyday is a new experience. Joe

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement.  Unfortunately tonight isn' much better.  I took advil and went to be at 5:30.  Between the fatigue and the fever, I am feeling pretty lousy.  I am very much looking forward to a great result at the end of week 12 and moving forward on the riba and peg.  I only hope that it feels as good as you say, Jay0914.

I feel your pain sypderman.  After 2 weeks my hgb was 10.2 and I am waiting for my 4 week labs.  This kicks your butt, but I try to believe that it's my body waging war and winning.  I pray you do 24 weeks.  I know I'm in for 44 so long as I make the benchmarks.  Hang tough!

Thank you for your encouragement Ann. Actually, today is better than yesterday, go figure. What I hear on these posts is that the sfx are totally unpredictable except for the general fatigue and malaise. Good luck on your 4 week labs and hope you are RVR UND. Regards.

Got my 4 week labs today and I am UND.

Also doc says fever is symptom of my low white blood cell count which is now 1.5.  HGB dropped to 9.4.  She is prescribing neupogen to give the wbc a boost.  Even feeling ******, I am so unbelievably happy!!!!  Putting on my dancing shoes so I can dream I'm at a party!!!

Keep dancing even if it's in ur head. lol. I've been eating a lot of bananas n haven't had bottom issues in a few weeks.
The fever? It does help to take a lil something if it gets too high. Otherwise, it just serves as a reminder to lay around n rest. I'm like you and work long hours. If I didn't feel like **** some days, I'd probly just keep full blast. Settle on down into that couch. Mine is getting a dent in that one corner. haha. Karen :)
