Food

I'm on the triple dose treatment. Incivek, Peg and Ribiveron.  Finding it difficult coming up with fatty foods.  I got a lot of info from this site already about what to eat, but I saw that someone had posted that their spouse found out that eating nuts or trail mix turned out to be a bad thing with the Incivek.  I was actually thinking that trail mix would be something good for me to try since the package is fairly small and I could consume it quickly without hassle in the event I can't come up with something else.  Are there issues/concerns with the trail mix etc.. and Incivek?

Johnsonville brats and italian sausages, quick and easy and plenty of fat. I cover them with water and cook them in the microwave for 6 minutes.

at first i did ice cream...then couldn't handle it so went to mostly butter...2 - tablespoons = enough fat for each dose of incivek...i got into blueberry pancakes with biskquick mix...lots of blueberries and lots of butter...i gained 20 pounds during tx... i always took my incivek on time and always had fat a little before..very important.....good luck.....billy  ps...i also needed to take zofran to keep this up

I also had difficulty..  Nothing tasted good and it was hard to choke down most things..  Until I tried strawberry milkshakes made with Haagendaz ice cream and whole milk .  It tasted good, went down easy, and lined the stomach nicely.  I ended up drinking 210 milkshakes by the time I was done with the incivek and never got tired of them..

My husband felt that nuts made the anal/rectal discomfort worse.

Dried fruit is not going to provide fat.
Nuts do.

Here's a link to what some other people are doing to get the needed fat.

I googled some info and found these sites:

Incivek site:
http://www.incivek.com/sites/incivek.com/files/documents/TreatRefGuide_Web_Version.pdf

http://www.incivek.com/how-to-take-incivek

http://www.drugs.com/incivek.html

All of them list 1/2 cup nuts as one way to get the 20 gms of fat. Therefore, it seems that taking nuts as the fat source, or one of the fats sources, should be fine.
