Genotype query, what does my report mean?

I have just recieved my report back for the genotype and I am unable to understand what genotype I am exactly.
Hepatits C Antibody:                DETECTED
Supplementary Hepatitis C Ab: DETECTED
What actual word tells you what your genotype is?
I have had hepatitis for 10 years now and I am looking at doing the treatment for hep c removal. I have done alot of research and the postive aspects of going through the treatment seem worth the long terms affects if I dont get rid of it now.

What geno type you are is very important for your Doctor to decide on your tx. I  am Geno 1a, the hardest to tx, one year of tx. It looks like you and I are on the same page, I have appt. with Doc Feb 1, start tx first part of March, care to join me!! :)

Hi there,

The results you shared above appear to be from an ‘HCV RNA QUALITATIVE’ test. This tells us that you do indeed have active Hep C, but does not indicate genotype. Genotyping will specifically indicate whether you are type 1, 2, 3 or 4; usually there will be a subtype listed too; for instance, genotype 1a, 3c etc.

If you’ve been infected for 10 years, you are definitely in the chronic phase; the virus will not resolve spontaneously at this point without interferon/ribavirin or similar antiviral therapy.

Many of us in here, including myself have completed the treatment successfully; if your doctor suggests you might benefit from it, I would strongly recommend you consider it as well.
