God's Gift

I have 13 days left on the Incevik, with 8 more months left of the Ribavirin and Pegasus.  The worst side effect of the Incevik has been the rectal pain and burning.  At times the pain has been so severe that I have not been able to even stand to my feet.  I have to admit that I have wanted to give up the fight, but I keep remembering these words given to me by my 4 year old great-niece ( I would like to share her words with all of you)  -- "Aunt Cindy, God gave you the medicine. I treasure the medicine that is helping to heal your liver on your side."  To everyone here on this forum, keep up the fight.  Blessings to all of us who have the courage to fight this virus.  VioletBlonde

That pain sounds nearly unbearable. I am glad that your niece helped give you the courage, to get thru an experience that excruciating.  I really wonder if I would be able to bear something like that, myself. Only, when reading about ESLD, and liver cancer, those stories also make us realize that we are fighting for our lives, with these PI's.
You have 13 days left., and you have hung in there,  which has taken so much strength. I hope your pain dissipates rapidly, once you are no longer taking your Incivek.

I am on my 2nd day off of Incivek and I feel soooo much better! My butt feels like a million bucks compared to what it HAS felt like. I got that side pretty rough too...even prescription lidocaine and every item in the hemmorhoid isle and I could barely manage it. Its obviously not gone after two days off but I can feel it healing and have been walking better. Its amazing! (Hopefully that will give you some hope:)

Also, my wonky stomach disappeared almost immediately. Normally at this time of day I would be doubled over in cramps..instead I am craving bacon. Do I guess that means my nausea is better too!

After the fat the world is a better place! Veggies fruits never tasted so good! I ever had room for them with all the fats before.

keep up the great work! Take care of yourself, once you get through these first 12 weeks you have accomplished a great task and will be at a very important milestone.

it is a miracle..just with a lot of sides! How precious of your niece to say that it is a gift. Sometimes we need those reminders.

best of luck,
Laura

Oy sorry about the anal discomfort. I've seen you active on the forum in the past so I am sure you have stumbled across a post or two that offers tips about how to deal with it. I managed to escape that rather unpleasant side efect I am happy to say. Still I was frustrated like crazy and miserable toward the end of the Incivek stage. It is amazing how different you feel once you are off that med. Not saying it is hondy dory so don't get me wrong...

I too am treating the full 48 weeks and I have seven months to go so I am not that far ahead of you. I appreciate your post since I have been feeling a tad discouraged myself. Your four-year old niece is wise beyond her years! Please be sure to give her a giant bear hug for me!
Hang in there
