HCV Skin Manifestation

For the last 3mo I have noticed a cluster of little dots around my knuckle on my right ring finger.  I figured it was from the hep, maybe from abnormal proteins.  I didn’t think much of it because it seemed isolated to that one knuckle.  I crack my knuckles especially that one, which sometimes cracks on it’s own, so it made sense to me that if I was going to have blood vessel damage or protean build up it would start there.  These dots look kind of like small pimples and are very close together.  They don’t come to a head and eventually disappear and come back.

I started treatment 7 days ago.  Over the last week these dots have spread to 3 of my knuckles on my right hand and two knuckles on my left.  These are all the knuckles I crack.  I don’t crack my pinkies or my right index finger because it was injured years ago and doesn’t crack and these knuckles are fine.  Also, a few dots are starting to go up my left arm.

Is this worth bringing up to my doc? I have an appointment tomorrow to see what my viral load is after the first week of treatment.  I’m kind of afraid to bring it up because I don’t want to have to stop treatment.  Any Ideas? Advice?

You sound like me. I have this list to take to the Dr. and then I'm afraid they'll discontinue tx. They go by your blood labs to determine how you are responding. I have this little speech I give: Here's a little something that worries me. But I'm SO happy to be on tx and it's not a huge problem. Then they decide. I had this rash around my eyes n was sure it meant something awful. not...
I hope this will be one of those things you'll look back and laugh about. Tell us how ur labs go!! xo Karen

Sounds like the same thing.  Some are little red dots and some look more like small pimples.

Thanks for the post.  It really put my mind at ease.  My Doc said my red blood cell platelets fell a little and says I will probably become anemic after I start on the boceprivear.  But over all tolerating treatment very well.  Said age probably had something to do with it.

She said to keep an eye on the skin thing but it’s probably nothing.

Thanks again.
