HEP C and HIVES

Ive been getting hives, since I contracted HEP C
I get them every second day (about)
and taking many drugs to help with them
Been to the hospital many times, because I couldnt breath and my face was sweeling...along with my body.
I am taking Reactine Benydryl Hydroxyzin
Wondering if anyone else heard of this with Hep C??
My docter told me its from Chonic Stress....but i think its related to the Hep C.

I would definitely test for cryoglobulemia.  Like foofigher, I got hives every time I was exposed to cold.  One time I almost died from throat closing up after being in cold river for 5 minutes.  Since I cleared HCV in 2008 the hives are gone.

Do you think hives could be related to your pregnancies? Is this is your third one?

I never had allergies until my first pregnancy and they stayed with me for quite a while after that. No science talk here but lots of gal pals complained of allergy onset with their pregnancies. Hormonal fluctuations and all.

Here's a MedHelp link about pregnancy and hives (urticaria), if you want to read other pregnant women's experience with this problem, and what meds they discuss as safe. And there's a doctor on that thread:

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Allergy/Urticaria-hives--pregnancy/show/441583

I would natch check ANY med you take with your obstetrician.

At some point after the baby is born, get yourself referred to a good hepatologist and schedule a liver biopsy (which is no big deal) to check on your liver health.

Best wishes for an easy delivery and a healthy baby,

Susan

One of the symptoms of cryoglobulinemia. My doc tested me after I told him I get hives from cold. Test was positive.

Good thread here:

Your liver is what produces histamines and hives are caused by histamines. They're obviously related

Stress can do really remarkable things to us; I had a bout with hives 20 years ago, and it was really, really miserable. Is it possible that part of the stress you’re dealing with is a recent HCV diagnosis? The benadryl should help, and is thought to be liver friendly too. Do what you can to manage the stress, although that’s sometimes easier said than done. Good luck and have a happy, healthy baby—
