HEPATITIS C REACTIVE

Hi to all!

I just had my bood taken because I felt some kind of pain on my stomach (left side) and my urine was dark, not as usual. My lab results read as follow:

Report                      Result      Units    Reference
Status:  FINAL              In Rage                 RAGE
                         out of Range

HEPATITIS C ANTIBODY       REACTIVE      /LPF    NON REACTIVE

Does this means I doo have Hepatitis C.

Thanks

A reactive hep C antibody result indicates past or present HCV infection. In a low risk population, false positive reactions may occur, therefore, testing with a qualitative HCV RNA is recommended.
Didn't your doc call you on this? You should have another test also known as a HCV PCR. This kind of result is required to be reporterd to the dept of health in the state I live so you may get a call, so be prepared. You don't indicate what you do or don't know so I will wait to see what your response is. You also don't indicate if you are educated about HCV. If not you can get much info and support here, just ask. I hope this is not what it seems to me. Best wishes. LL
