Had to irrigate a urinary catheter and long story short, it was very clogged. The cath sprayed and my nurse aid and I got urine in our eyes and faces (lips). I know exposure via this route are low but there is no telling if trace amounts of blood was in the urine (always possible). I can't seem to find a lot of information regarding statistics and likelihood of contracting hep c via this route. Most info deals more with needle sticks. Any info would be helpful. The hospital has given us no info whatsoever. The patient was reactive for hep c and ow waiting for viral load test to come back.
