Having more upper abdominal pain since off treatment other posts

Hi there.  How's everybody doing?  I've been off treatment now for 9 weeks.  My last LFT was really high, but I think it was just because at that time I was on alot of pain medication for my herniated disk.  I had a microdiskectomy done 8 days ago.  This is an outpatient surgery where they just need to do a 1 inch wide incision.  They go in and trim back the affected disk, which in most cases helps the huge amount of pain that goes with the herniated disk bumping the nerve.  Anyhow, other than incision pain, my pain is way less+I've weaned off the majority of my pain meds.  I'm now down to 1/2 an Ultram (doesn't contain any Tylenol).  After today I'll be totally off the pain meds.  Anyhow, for the past 4 days, I've been having ALOT of upper abdominal pain.  It's been bothersome enough that it's woken me up from a good sleep.  I'm thinking it's the liver.  For the 1st 3 days it was mid to mid-left+last night it hurt real bad on the right.  It's all upper abdomen.  I am fairly certain that it has nothing to do with my heart as I had an EKG done at the hospital prior to my surgery+that was perfectly normal. Anyway, it's bothering me enough to where if it continues, I'm going to inquire about whether my gastro. believes I should get an upper abdominal ultrasound.  I was getting them once a year there for awhile, expect on the year that I had a biopsy.  My last biopsy was a year ago Apr.2004.  My last sono was 2 years ago.  So, with this pain, I'm wondering if I don't need a sono just to check.  I'm going to give it another couple of days,if it doesn't clear, I'll call. Susan

My abdominal pain is better today.  Yeah!!  I'm glad.  It was probably the combination of too much fatty foods and pain meds.  I'm off the pain meds now.  And I need to behave myself with food.

Thanks everybody.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having a tough time. I don't have have any advice for you other than that it sounds as though the pain is bad enough that you ought to call your Dr. and get in to find out what's causing it. Hopefully someone will come along with something more helpful.Hang in there.
