Headache and other post's

last night I had one of the most painful headaches I can remmember, The pain was so intense that it caused me to throw-up and even with 2 percocets and a 1/2 Xanax it was horrible, it lasted about 7 hours and I am weak as a kitten today.
Anyone else get these from TX ? Also does any one know of a possable prevention, as I dont want to go through that again.

Hope your monday goes by quickly and enjoyable.

I have had a headache for over a year now.  Its not very intense but it is annoying as all hell!  Sometimes its worse than others.  The pressure originates from behind my ears inside the skull.  It then spreads to the temples and front of the head.  The more often my ears pop the worse the headache gets.

I have looked everywhere for a solution to no avail!  Does anyone know what is going on with me or have any helpful insight at all?

Ask your doc for an Rx for hydroxyzine, if Benadryl makes you too sleepy in the daytime (as it does me -- one dose at bedtime keeps me nearly asleep for 24 hours).  An old (generic available, not expensive) antihistamine, hydroxyzine is less sedating, for most people, and an even more effective itch reducer than Benadryl, usually.  I add all the qualifiers because we're all different.  I found a lotion with Tea Tree oil in it (Derma E makes one especially for itch, Nature's Gate makes another) somewhat helpful.  But a really torturing itch calls for a drug.  Good luck!

I agree your approach, and have followed something similer for several years. The main differance is no THC for me.
I drink approxamently 100 Oz of clear fluids daily, no caffine and I cut out tobacco 4 years ago, after a 33 year run. Fruits , Vegtetables, soy products make up most of my diet. I stick pretty much to a vegatarian type diet, although I won't turn down a Rib Eye steak that I barbacued once every couple of months or so.
At this point your lifestyle has to accomadate the liver, as it is the organ in need.

I wanted to thank all of you that responded. All the great information that was given, and so quickly!!
I will talk to one of my Dr.s today and my Primary care Physician next week.

What a great Forum, where when one has a need there are so many that are willing to help.

Bob, That reversal only applies in those of us w/ no cirrhosis. They are saying(and we know about long shots) that it might help reverse cirrhosis, also I think extending tx. might speed up the healing process. Just my thoughts and no evidence to back it up that I know of.   Joni

Joni,

your nutritionist told you right. We need protein. I get much of mine from soy products also fish and some free ranging chicken.
The worse you liver gets the more important it is to balance your intake of protien, carb's and fats.

       Thanks for the heads up.

I don't know what shape your liver is in, or if it really revelent, but my nutritionist told me that animal protien is necessary to keep your body from going after it's own. Not much, 2 2oz. portions of meat a day and 1/2 c. milk or cheese from a good sized(2 cups) helping of mac & cheese, or 1 egg & 1/2 cup of milk. Don't know whether that's the gospel, but it works for me.   Joni

Smoke a joint, cut out all caffine and only drink clear fluids-lots of them w/no toxins(chemicals or modified corn syrup).  Rest in a cool, darkish room.  De-tox, de-stimulate, de-stess.  don't add more chemicals and toxins to an already struggling liver.

I used to smear vaseline on when I finished showering, before I dried off. That really helped a lot.

Also try an herb bath. Instead of investing a lot of money in herbs(no green thumb here so can't grow em) I found I could put 5 or 6 Celestial seasoning sleepy time or lipton' lemon soothers, teabags in my bath water and they do the trick. And no, they don't dry you out!  Joni

If Benadryl doesn't work, try Chlor-trimeton.  The 4-hour usually takes the edge off for me and then, hopefully, I don't need another.  I prefer the 12-hour if I can find it.  Benadryl makes most people sleepy as well but it doesn't do anything for me except keep me awake all night.

Hope you find something for the itching.

Hope your feeling a little better as the day goes on!  I also never got many headaches before tx but have had a couple of bad bouts during tx!  One,,,was about 2 or 3 weeks ago and I had a headache for a solid week! Nothing would relieve it and yes it made me sick to my stomach. I think I can take the itching or other sides but the headache,,,I can do without!

Is everyone experiencing itching at times so bad you can't sleep?  Last night,,,I must have itched from my head to my toe and all in between,  I was up half night itching,,,,It like to drive me crazy!!

I got my first migraine in many years while on tx. I went to the emergency room and the doctor gave me an IV. Into it he put benadryl, waited 10 min., added morphine, waited 10 min., then added something for nausea. In all the years I did get migraines, I never got complete relief, only enough so that I couls sleep it off. This regimen gave me complete relief. Joni

Yes, the migraines were terrible for me......vomiting, nausea, excruciating pain, etc. for the first couple months.  Then my dr rx'd Imitrex and that has worked wonders for me.  I used to get a migraine once (sometimes twice) a year.  Since on tx I now get them about every other week or so; sometimes more often. Just did 43/48.  Imitrex is a miracle drug for me.

Ask your dr about some migraine meds.  Believe me, it's not worth enduring the pain if you don't have to.

Good luck with your continued tx.

I get migraines all the time and did especially during treatment. I use Zomeg or Imitrex. Ask your doctor; migraines are the most painful experience. Chocolate, bacon, anything with msg in it, brings them on for me. I have to catch them early or nothing works. I can tell the difference between a regular headache, which tylenol will work for, and a migraine which tylynol won't do a thing for.
I hope you don't get anymore. Take care

Sorry you had to go through that.  I had about a dozen migranes while on my 48 wk tx.   I also experienced two more within 1 1/2 months of ending tx.   None for the last 2 weeks, and I now have more energy too.  The migranes are Horrible.  It is one of the sx for some people.  I took my acetaminophen, 3 cold washclothes (one applied to my forehead, another on my face, neck, and the third applied to the back/base of my neck AND a dark room and just layed around or slept.  My eyes became very sensitve to light during tx too, and that triggered migranes as well.  I also found that if I ate any food with MSG my migrane would be triggered.  MSG never bothered me before, and it does not now since I finished tx.....I would still mention it to your doctor........Peace and migrane free days to you!

Sorry to break in, but just wanted to let everyone know this little bit of advice:  I saw my opthalmologist last week and she said that because these meds dehydrate us so much, that we need to use artificial tears at least 4 times a day.  Apparently I am suffering from "dry eye syndrome".  I don't drink as much water as I know I should and using artificial tears is so obvious, but I never thought of it and just thought I would pass it along to see if it might help anyone else.
