Cellulitis is fairly common and affects people of all races and ages. Men and women appear to be equally affected. Although cellulitis can occur in people of any age, it is most common in middle-aged and elderly people.
I hope people being to realize this

I had a bacterial infection similar to what you described on my chin a few years ago. The doctor diagnosed it as Impetigo, and prescribed an oral antibotic (Cephalaxin I think). My daughter had a skin infection once, years ago, that started as a very small open area and gradually spread across her abdomen. The doctor diagnosed it as Impetigo also. Due to her many allergies, he only prescribed a topical antiobiotic (Bactroban I think).

Well, that's a great sign the Bactrim is working! Kids are so great with their honesty, haha! I ask my youngest, "what does my breath smell like?", and he says, "poo" : /
Interferon will rot out your teeth pronto. That is one of the first things doctors tell you, get your dental work in order before you start tx.
Cipro worked for me. Have you been tested for for MRSA?
Dear Liz, I had a similar situation and in the list of side effects for the triple with Incivek there was a chance of infections. I did not get it the first time but the second was a doozy. I got a terrible boil, my doctor said it was caused my by immune system being compromised. I was advised to put heat on it and that helped it a lot. I hope you feel better very soon. PM me if you like
Best wishes
Dee
She signaled the Interferon. No one escapes - including Hep C so OK. Ninjamonkey had a tooth pulled also. I wonder should we be taking multi-vitamins along with the other goodies? Juicing and eating as well as possible helps but who does that consistantly? I hope you feel better right away. This Bactrim seems really efficient. My cheek is half as swollen, just red and wierd. My grandson says euwiee. little son of a gun. haha
Thank you for responding.
Did your PA tell you which part of the TX left your immune system compromised, as in, the Inf, the Riba or the Incivek?
We were having this discussion earlier, because I had noticed increased infections, after I began the Victrelis...I have a tooth abbcess, which didn't go away after Penn VK was prescribed, and it's still bothering me.
I have noticedother posters onhere, with all kindsof infectins, post tx, last week I remember someone saying they had a perrineal/anal fistula, and that their Doctor had thought it was from the Interferon~
Good luck with the Bactrim, and I will wait to see what some of the Warriors have to say..my tooth abcess definitely tastes horrible, like it could be definitely be Staph.
Me again - the PA said my immune system is compremised and has left me open to opportunistic infections from the TX. I posted this here because many of us are in this state while recovering EOT. It is scary, right there where I can't miss it. Damn.
Maybe I should post on the Derm forumn but I would rather hear from a Warrior with a similar experience and how it all worked out??!!
