ahh, so your the one with they genotype 6?
I've read that there is not much difference with SOC between genotypes 1 and genotype 6 patients with regard to rates of EVR or EOT response but 6 is supposed to be at a higher rate for SVR - something like 85% which I think is pretty high compared to geno 1 rates of 50%. So, you are looking good!
LOL that is what we all say when we meet kat - Geno6 you're the first I've ever heard of!!!!!!!!!! :)
And now - I've been here for many years now and I don't even know how to post up a result document like you did!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, you're doing great. It's actually a good thing for your hemo to drop (even though it's wicked painful when it gets very low) because it does show that the meds are working for you! So, when you feel really bad remember - it's a good thing in fact. :)
Brent handled all of the 'real' information above but I know when you are new it's nice to see people responding just so you can make friends and know some people so I just wanted to add my two cents.
Hang in there, you're doing great!
Deb
Geno 6! You are the first one I have heard of. You are a rare one. I don't know much about that genotype.
I feel for you as I recently went through TX. Hang in there.
Thank you for your help. I am actually Genotype 6- and am a 24 week treatment.
actually you are looking pretty good into your treatment. How long are you treating? When did you start?
Labs on line is a good place to help you understand your tests. Here is the link. http://www.labtestsonline.org/
Basically, your hemaglobin and neutrophils are low. The first is called hemolytic anemia and is caused by Ribavirin and the second is neutropenia and is caused by the interferon (pegasys), Neither appear to be below alarming levels, and your hematocrit is still in normal range (usually if hemaglobin is low, so is hematocrit).
My doc treated with procrit when hemaglobin got below 10.0 and stopped when it came back above 10.5 to 11.0. Continued treatment with Procrit when HGB is above about 11 is ill advised as covered by the FDA black-box warning.
My doc was willing to let neutrophils get very low without resorting to using Neupogen. He was talking like 300 to 500. My lowest was about 800.
I know that the low hemaglobin is associated with fatigue and breathlessness (I bet you puff pretty hard when going up a flight of stairs). I think the low neutrophils are assiciated with some feel-bad symptoms.
There are rescue drugs for extremely low hemaglobin and neutrophils. Every doctor/clinic has their own limits where they will use rescue drugs. Sometimes insurance is a big factor in this decision, unfortunately.
Your viral count is undetectable, which is the good news. If you are genotype 1, and these results are from your 12 week test, then this means you are EVR and probably will only have to to the standard 48 weeks.
Best wishes,
Brent
