Hepatitis means liver inflammation. It's generally referred to as specific viruses although it can be caused by other factors like drinking too much alcohol.
Hep A is a separate virus from hep B or C, etc.
When someone tests positive for hep C its common to give them the vaccines for hep A and B.
There is no vaccine for hep C.
Yes, you could have had the hep C virus and your body got rid of it, leaving you with the antibodies.
And no, you had no vaccine because none exists, yet.
If it were me, I'd get another test for hep C is about 6 months, just to be on the safe side.
You should feel free to call your doctor and have your questions answered.
In the future, you may want to bring a list of questions with you so you don't forget.
I too tested positive for hepc antibodies. I wasnt initially worried because they asked me if i had recieved vaccines which would be leading to a positive antibody result. I went home and wondered.. why wouldnt hep a and b shown up as well then? I investigated the vaccines and came to find out that there is no such thing as a hep c vaccine at all!!! Why would a primary doctor have asked me that had there been no such thing!?? Does that mean i could have the virus, had it and beat it, or actually have had some sort of vaccine? Im so confused and worried. Someone please help me answer all of my questions. Please! Im only 22..
thanks for your valuable suggestions dear!
There is no treatment to rid the body of HCV antibodies, it sounds like you were exposed to HCV at some point and cleared the virus through your own immune system and you will always test positive for the antibodies.
Perhaps you could get a recent PCR test and have a doctor sign off on it stating that you don't actually have HCV that you only carry the antibodies.
Good luck
