Hi all...need all of your uplifiting support :(

Hey all, I haven't been online in awhile u know how crazy life can get sometimes. U know that my boyfriend had hep c and started treatment back last may. He only had to be on it for 6 months because he was such a quick responder. Every Dr. appointment since then he has been UND until this past monday...tests show hep c is making its way back. His viral count is up to 5600. We are both beside ourselves as the dr was so positive about hep c not coming back with his genotype but apparently it did. We go back to the dr in 3 months to decide what to do next. Do any of you have any recommendations? Is there ANY treatments out there available besides the pegasys? I don't know what to do I feel like I'm about to lose my mind!! He's just now getting back to even being normal and now this?? I feel so lost and so sad I cannot stop crying.

I live in the S.F bay area and called a research study clinic in S.F. called Quest. It took awhile but I was able to get into the study thrugh them. There is a Hepatologist at Sutter Pacific in S.F. who is also running research studies. I don't know where you are located but there is a government link for research studies, I will try to find and post and you can look it up in your region. Also, ask your Hepa or a leading Hepatologist in your area, they should know what studies are open.
I don't know about how much time he can wait because I am not a professional and I don't know him, but I do know that many ppl can live with cirrhosis for several years if they take good care of themselves.
Pm me-we can talk more.

How did you go about getting on the trial for that combo? Do u think he would be able to wait until mid 2014 to start treatment or is that too long?

GS 7977 and Ribavirin  is supposed to be on the market mid 2014. I treated with that combination and I am genotype 2 and cirrhotic and just attained SVR.
There is hope.

He was on the pegasys/Rib treatment. I'm not sure of the liver fibrosis, know he's considered stage 4 schorois but they said if he took care of his liver he would live a normal healthy life.

He's Genotype 2, VL was at 5600 this past monday. He was only on treatment for 6 months. He went UND at 6 weeks and has been UND up until now. No there was never and dose reductions.

I'm hoping he can try new treatment, I don't think we could make it thru pegasys/rib again, it almost destroyed us both:(

I am very, very sorry to hear that your boyfriend relapsed. I know it must be devastating.  I know there are new treatments in the pipeline and hopefully he will be able to treat with one of those in  the future. In the meantime, he can regroup and gain strength before his next treatment.

Can you give us a little recap of his Genotype, liver fibrosis, VL, treatment progress ... when he was UND, any dose reductions, etc.
