it might not hurt to buy a cuff, or get one RX'd so you could monitor what the peg does to him...some folks have changes some don't.
if he needs to stay on a BP med, you might want to investigate losartan

I beleive it's in phase 2 trials now and they are going well.....it has been shown to improve and reverse fibrosis, so it would help his liver not to advance and maybe even to reverse, not just lower his BP....I'm not sure what all the names are, but it's a common BP med.

That's really good to know. There are so many issues listed in the package inserts that come with the meds, and when I saw heart issues it made me concerned.
my blood pressure was better during tx and I stopped the BP meds. I went back on the meds 6 months after stopping tx.
My husband had been taking a beta-blocker to manage his high blood pressure for some time before starting treatment; treatment (71 weeks so far) did not seem to worsen his blood pressure. Hope that helps.
I had high blood pressure before treatment, and took daily medication. During treatment my blood pressure dropped because of the treatment drugs, and I gradually discontinued the blood pressure meds. After treatment it went back up and I eventually worked my way back up to my pre-treatment dose of the blood pressure meds.
I had high blood pressure prior to tx and still take 10 mg of norvasc for it. I am in week 32 of tx and my blood pressure has been fine. :)
