How Staph Infection is Passed from one person to another

I am wondering that if someone has a known staph infection, can you get it from them by being in the same room?  How is it passed exactly?

LOL, he's got a sense of humor! too bad I did not get to meet him last year.  I think older than dirt is younger than me, so what does that make me?

I use clobetasol ointment also (prescription)for all of the itching.  If you have it on the back of your neck, you may have lichen simplex chronicus.  Can you see a dermatologist?

My staph experience has been concentrated in the nose (painful little scabs).  I use bacitracin/neomycin ointment for it.  It's not a cure, but helps sooth the scabs.  I am not sure how it is spread, but I am pretty sure it was I that gave it to my husband (through kissing?) Isn't he the lucky guy!

Scalp scalp ... need for scalp!!  My head itches more than all the other rash. So thanks tons for your advice about this product.

And thank each of you who posted your experience with this rash.  This is the first side effect that is frustrating me no end, because it's pretty constant.

My "rage", brain fog, and fatigue are a given but are not constant.

Throw away,
Throw away
Throw away my riba rashhhhhhhh
Throw away,
Throw away
Oh throw that durn rash away!

Thanks again.

I hate this rash.  They pop up all over out of nowhere.

Bought some Aveeno Oatmeal bath and hydrocortizone stuff and it helped me a LOT.  Of course they just pop up whenever and where ever they want to...and at work it's a nightmare cause it's hugely embarrassing and I dont want to bleed on anything either...

Go away RIBA RASH!

The only thing that worked for me (riba rash) was Diprobase. It's expensive but a life saver!

The rx cream I have is called 'Clobetasol Propionate USP, 0.05%' It worked like a charm when the OTC creams were useless...

My Riba rash started about 3 weeks ago and hasn't left yet.  It is all on my torso, front and back.  I do think it seems to be heat related.  My first episode was after the first cold night of the year and I wore my winter night gown and piled up more blankets.  I think I got too hot.  I have since thrown out all the winter gowns that had polyester in them because I think that made it worse. I notice the rash is not too bad when I get into the shower, but bad when I get out of the hot shower (I know the experts say don't take a hot shower, but it feels so good.).

I like the Aveeno creme and body wash too.  I have a creme with cortisone (OTC) that seems to help.  Also Aloe Vera Gel.   Also, cutting the tags out of my shirts helped. (thanks for that advice, friends)

I try to rub, not scratch, but that seems to break blood vessels and then I have splotchy marks.

All I can say is TEMPORARY, TEMPORARY, TEMPORARY.............

Thanks for your answers.  I have Aveeno body lotion and body wash, so will put lotion on the itchy places - gobs and gobs.  When that's gone I'm going to find the dermalogica stuff you spoke of.

I also am glad to know benadryl helps, think I might have some somewhere in our medicine cabinet.

36 weeks to go ... gonna do this gonna do this gonna do this.

I'm older than dirt and have two kids, 11 and 15.  Good thing I got my dad's sense of humor and my hubby is the world's best, or I could never keep it together.

Fortunately, the brain fog and riba rage aren't too bad.  Wait, like, what was I talking about ... DON'T YOU HEAR ME ... WHAT WAS I TRYING TO SAY?  PANT, PANT, PANT ... ok, tired now so gonna go veg out.  ;-)

There are many types of staff infections. Staff infections can be spread in the air or from a contaminated surface or object or from person to person. Be careful and find out what type of staff infection it is and then google it to learn more. Mike

I got the rash on my fingers first, then my hands, then my feet...dug holes in myself scratching it which is definately not cool! I was causing myself to bleed I was scratching so hard! Can't do that kind of thing at all when you have this virus...I couldn't stop itching...got prescription cream and it cleared up but of course I also stopped the meds too...

Staph infections...yes staph...I had one when I was in South America, a bug bite got infected...then another mosquito bite got infected...then I fell and scraped a big spot on my knee, infected...pretty soon I had about 4 places w/staph infections...It jumps very easily and quickly to any open wound...went to the hosp and got massive dose of antibiotics,it took a long time to clear up. They say it stays in your blood and can resurface again later which it did...another bug bite or something on my foot years later, blister maybe? Anyway, the staph came back and there I was again, on antibiotics...the doc asked me if I was an alcoholic because my body was so riddled with this infection plus streptococi, and every other kind of 'coci' you could name...I was so offended...my body was probably battling this HCV junk and couldn't handle the staph too! That was about 23 years ago and so far so good...

Staph come from your ears noise and eyes.  Mostly you give it to yourself by rubbing those and then touching some part of you body that has broken skin.  I had a lot of them Just after transplant. If your system is knocked down from treatment then be sure to wash those hand a lot and keep way for sick people. and learn to keep your hands from touching those areas of your body. If what you are talking about the the boil like place that can pop up for no reason. I have had to have four cut out in the last three year and they are no fun at all to deal with.

OK, I was fortunate to only get riba rash on my forearms. Keep rash moisturized and avoid scratching. I used an anti itch cream with benadryl quite a bit. The scratching seems to make it worse so anything to decrease itching and to keep skin moisturized.
The kisses are best but most people are reluctant to treat us for rashes.smile. Frank

Sorry to break in this thread.  Just a couple of brief questions for anyone who's had the riba rash.

For me it started on my head, now also on upper torso and arms.

Question:  How far did it spread on you, all the way to your toes?

Question:  Does it ever go away (during tx) once you have it?

Question:  What's the best thing you have found to put on the extra itchy places?

Thank you, God bless -
