How to receive a treatment

I got an individual Blue Cross & Blue Shield PPO 80% insurance. It was diagnosed hepatitis C type 3. I pass a biopsy test as well as blood and endocrinology. My doctor assigned a pegasys and ryboverin therapy, but pharmacy doctor has negotiated with Blue Cross for about one month. She tells my that my co-payment now is still to high to afford and she is truing to find something more reasonable to me. On the other hand, Blue Cross representative told to my health adviser that my doctor should order the medications through Triessent pharmacy. In this case the medications costs will be apply to the treatment plan rather than to medication plan because there is a difference in coverage. Nevertheless, my deductible is $1000 and out of pocket $1000 either. In addition, I received an application from Roshe, but my pharmacy doctor said that I'm not eligible in view that I have insurance. So, I have no idea what all of this means, but I need to start a treatment as fast as it is possible. Thanks for answers.

Yes, I have a fibrosis and my doctor told me I have to receive treatment to eliminate an influence of hepatitis C. So, actually, I don't have a time. I just need to live as long as possible to grow up my children. However, I'll drop the assistance form at the doctor's office either. Thank you. Furthermore, Blue Cross applied the doctor's office visits and other related activities to the deductible, so that I hope it starts moving. I experiences some sleepeness and weekness a little bit recently.

You must be under medical supervision when you treat.  You did not say what stage and grade your biopsy is.  If you do not have fibrosis and inflamation levels are low, you do have time to figure out the best way to treat.  Fill out the assistance form and drop it off at the doctor's office for signature with a note.  You may want to start treatment in January with your plan year so you are not meeting a new dedutible mid-treatment.  Read your health insurance plan documents and talk back to your pharmacist.  Tell her you are applying for assistance.  My doctor and I did not have appointments between my biopsy and my starting treatment (but it was about 3-4 months) because it was not necessary because I had little damage and there was nothing to be done until I started.  He left it in my court to make an appointment when I was ready to treat.

Yes, I agry that $2000 out of pocket is not much in this case, but the dr did not scheduled next appointment. So, I'm worrying how soon I receive a treatment. The farmacy doctor just said that I should believe her. I just guesse what about she negotiates with Blue Cross. Should I wait for their call?

Yes, I received bills from Blue Crossand some expences such as biopcy, x-ray are applied to the 2009 Plan Deductible. Yes, I think that I'm eligeble to assistance progrm as Roshe is because I have two children under age of 18, but they need my doctor's signature on the application. Because the doctor decline to state his signature, there is something that I not able to figure out yet. However, I will be happy to pay my maximum out of pocket to be treated.

actually a $1000 or $2000 deductible is not that much if you consider that treatment costs around $40,000. Like the other poster suggested maybe you could ask the drug comapny for assistance. best of luck

Will you be eligible to change deductibles on your plan during an open enrollment?  Is there any way you can change to another policy that is more treatment friendly?  If you are in a group health plan you are protected by HIPPA in that your new plan must cover pre-existing conditions.  My Blue Cross plan had special discounts for treatment drugs including the Procrit because treatment is cheaper than transplant or cancer.  I did have to use the mail order pharmacy to get the discounts.  Google up prescription assistance plans and do research.   You do have time to try and position yourself so you can afford to treat.  You may can still apply for assistance since $2000 is a substantial amount of money and an impediment to treatment.  Do any of your doctor visits, biopsy, etc. appy to your deductible?   You may be closer than you think.
