just a question of info on hep-c...geno-2

Hello, I am new to this forum and would apreciate a couple answers if anyone has some info. I am an X boyfreind of a lady that is 44 years old and she "had" hep-c and stage four after all was over or stage 5, is there a stage 5? I lived wth this woman for 4 years while with no doubt she had the virus. We had sexual relations a few times while she was menstrating, is that a bad risk for me? Should I be checked for hep-c too? My doctor has done a liver function and tells me that I don't have hep-c, but is just a liver function test enough to tell?. My X unfortunatly has gone back to drinking and negative habits after going through all of the chemo treatment and "BEAT" the virus totally gone. go figure...anyway I also was noticing her mental function has gotten to a point now that she is not the same person. Combative and negative etc. can't
make good decisions etc...does end stage liver disease cause mental impairmant too? Is sad to see my old friend change so much . If anyone has any imput I would greatly apreciate it...thanks!...CH

Having sex during a period is considered unsafe sex = with anyone.  While it's HIGHLY unlikely you did get this...this is one of the ways that makes it more possible.

Have the test just for peace of mind.  You can't pay enough just to be able to sleep at night!

Also remember in the future - there are worse things out there that are HIGHLY communicable via sex.  ALWAYS practice safe(R) sex practices in this day and age if you are not absolutely sure.

Forsee: I thought it was only us who thought baseball scores while doing the nasty. You ARE more and more like a dude!

FOG: Bloody unlikely to get it through sex, period. And if you did, liver panel would most likely show it. But why not get the antibody test, whenever you get around to it? You're fine dude.

it's always good to check yourself out to make sure, but it's hard to get it through sex, though anything's possible...I wouldn't risk relations with people with unprotected sex till I really knew the score...it's too bad for your ex- she sounds like she's pretty self-destructive to waste a golden opportunity at a hep c free life to mess herself up again, but of course I don't know the full story...hope this helps...

There are some scales that use more than the usual 0-4.
Doubtful that your sexual relations put you at risk.
Never hurts to be checked for HCV.
A test of your liver enzymes is not enough to tell.
There are more things than I could list that might cause "mental impairment".
I'm not a doctor.

Good luck.
