Hypnosis & Liver Health

I really find the most amazing therapists. Just got a new one and after going thru all the herbal supplements she could think of she came up with her best solution.

Hypnosis.

She tells me she knows a great hypnosis/therapist and maybe she could get my brain to cure my liver!

I kinda nodded politely and tried to change the subject to my therapy plans...

So just to please my nutty therapist - has anyone ever heard of great success with hypnosis?

thanks,
frank

hmm...we see ourselves as healthy, we see ourselves as having no virus....but the numbers tell a different tale!  I believe faith can move mountains, but only faith and trust placed in the right Source can yeild up those results, faith in ourselves, or faith in faith itself cannot produced what only One source s truly capable of.

I guess what's operative is, not everything is fixable, not everyone will get a miracle for every thing, nor maybe is that what we should expect. Here in America, we think everything can just be fixed....well, sometimes it can, and sometimes it can't. hey, that's life.

come to think of it...I've been seeing myself as Sophia Loren buzzing around in a little massarratti for years....but so far the the rear view still says "wide load toyota coming up on ya!"
maybe I can get someone to make me believe I'm in a lambogeni...but chances are, it'll still be toyota on the title no matter what mantra I learned to chant and envision.
save your money Frank....or donate it to HepCchallenge.org or some other race for the cure!

@ cruelworld, I certainly know about how stress and all the other things you mention can/have reduced my health but there is something more that we dont know about. And yes, I am SVR! As said, if insurance will pick it up I am all for it... they picked up acupuncture (and after three months my Asian doc said that my body was too poisoned for it to work) so maybe they will pick up hypnosis. fingers crossed.

@ R Glass, I am up for that drug induced coma myself. Put me in line just behind you!

seeing the therapist tomorrow so lets see what info she has on her hypnotherapists friend,

later,
frank

I don’t know about Hypnosis but I would volunteer to be a Guinea Pig for a Drug induced Coma and they can wake me up when it is all over with.

I agree with cruel.  If having HCV is screwing you up mentally then that's not helping your physical health and hypnosis could well bring about a helpful 'attitude adjustment'.  I don't think we are talking complete cure here, although there are always spurious spontaneous cures being heard of so I wouldn't rule it out completely.  If you are already coping well mentally then maybe you don't need hypnosis.

I'm glad you posted the suggestion as I could do with an attitude adjustment myself.  Anyway I'd be really interested to hear from anybody who went this route,

dointime.

i would trust accupuncture before hypnosis, not to cure but to alieveate some of the symptoms of tx or just from having HCV without tx.

negative thoughts, stress, hopelessness and a bad attitude are proven to be detrimental to your health.
anything that can induce a more positive attitude and a feeling of peace and
happiness is more helpful than many realize. look at the overwhelming and scientifically proven "placebo" effect, against minor maladies. although no one
expects placebos to cure hepatitis c, they are still used in drug trials as a control group.
if you beleive that something unverifiable will help you, try it. i personally dont believe in hypnosis or actupunture and i would not expect them to work for me but thousands of others swear by them. the fact as to whether the effect is "real or "placebo" is meaningless as it does appear to work for many people for many indeterminate problems.
even though many dont believe in the connection, some hep c treatment studies have correlated severe derpression to lower svr rates. obviously this is far too oversimpified to prove anything but very telling for those who like to read the hidden writing on the wall. the same results have been documented with cancer and other
diseases being treated with proven therapy. a good attitude correlates with greater success. i cant remember whether you svr'd or not but im aware that you have lasting problems. the type of problems that no one seems to be able to treat. if i was you i would try everything that you can justify financially. i consider the two most powerful healers to be a good attitude and exercise. start there and continue outward.
there are many documented cases of somewhat "miraculous" recoveries.
maybe you can become one if you really try.

copyman, I am sure that living in a little **** town with a large medical society I will certainly hear more and more ways that will guarantee a cure!

Unfortunately, if my insurance doesnt cover hypnosis then it aint coming out of my SSI!

Will let you know how cured I become,
frank
