This is to anyone who relapsed?
Did your doctor let you do treatment again?
Did your insurance pay for it?
Did it work?

I am female 1A genotype. I replapsed 2 months after finishing 48 weeks of tx.( I was on I was seeing a gastro doc at the time and he referred me to a hepatolagist. I tried to find a doctor here in Tenn. that I liked or would take my insurance. Finally went to  the reccomended hep doctor in Michigan (home town). He started me on tx that day. I am currently on pegasys/copegus combo. I showed up as undetectable after 12 weeks and just tested again two weeks ago still undetectable. I am on week 61 of 72.

As far as the insurance company.. The first time on tx my doctor had to call the insurance company and talk them into paying for it. I had to pay for the first 2 months worth of meds at $1600 a month. This time they didn't even hesitate. Thank goodness with the procrit and neupogen, pain killers and ADs it would cost around $5000 a month.

I am praying that it works this time. Good luck to you. Kim

Your post was so sad to read, to get through 40 weeks of tx and then to have to stop....   Those of us undergoing tx know what that's like;  those of us who have cleared at weeks 12, 24, etc., know what that's like too, but we can't possibly know how you feel now the virus back -  we can only imagine.. :(
I am seriously optimistic that advances in tx options will bring 100% clearance.  In the meantime stay strong and take care of yourself. Kindest regards to you..
(I'm a 1B also, on week 30/48).

My husband relapsed, 3a did 24/24 last year, is 29/48 last friday. Starting vl of less than 500,000 both times. He also has hemochromotosis (sp) and cirrhosis. The doc that looked at it while doing gallbladder (sp) sugery said it was very mild? Has/had fatty liver according to bx, he has lost about 60 pounds or so now. Insurance covering both rounds of tx.
He switched docs after first round of tx but first doc would have retreated. He cleared at 12 weeks PCR first time and 8 weeks this time.
Has it worked? I sure hope it is working because he says if it doesn't work this time, he won't do it again.  He wasn't feeling bad until starting tx and all labs were good prior to this round of it.
Keeping my fingers crossed.
Good luck to you.

Hello, I gather from your statement that you have relapsed. It might be helpful if you gave us a little more of your story if you are comfortable with that and the feedback  would be more relevant. Geno type, viral load, liver condition. I am curious of what you did for treatment also. I am 2b VL 8.5 mill and have not started tx yet and am trying to learn as much as I can. Thanks and good luck. You will get some answers here, for sure.

this illness is most curious. someone recently posted doing 21 wks of tx , genotype one and having to stop, but he is SVR months later... and yet others need more than 48 wks to achieve same results.
others here are tx anywhere bt second time to over 6 attempts, Some cleared at different attempts. You should inquire of your insurance about what they will pay.  If you stop tx for reasons they don't consider valid, it might be a fight to get approval again.
goo luck
