Insurance coverage Fibrospect

Has anyone had experience with Fibrospect test being denied  insurance coverage?  I have PERS Blue Cross and my insurance is refusing to cover the test, saying it was not medically necessary or appropriate.  I am a G-2b and did not have a biopsy since I had planned on being treated regardless of stage of liver damage.  I've been fighting with my insurance about this for six months.

Any suggestions from anyone?  The test was not cheap, but I actually saved my insurance a bundle by having the Fibrospect instead of the biopsy.

   I have HIP and my GI tried to order it but the Lab that "QUEENS LONG ISLAND MEDICAL GROUP" uses (Centralized Laboratory Services) doesn't even list it as a test.

  My Dr said it is because it is really not mainstream yet.

Thanks, Bobby.  They better get with the program because it saves them a lot of money.  I haven't given up yet, but before I actually had the blood drawn I called my insurance to make sure they would cover it and the person said they didn't see any indication that it would NOT be covered, so I went with it with that information.  I'm going to fight it because it's $350!!!

I wish I had health insurance... I went on Long Term Disability and several years later they sent me a letter stating that since I did not have social security disability they were going to cancel my insurance.  I went to an attorney and was told there is nothing I could do.  My husband an I are on the verge of losing everything because of my Hep C.

I am so sorry to hear that.  We really need to do something in this country regarding health insurance for everyone.
