Libido gone

Question

Hey guys :)

I am new to this forum - 
Just wantd to share / ask concerning the side effects of the hep c treatment or of the effects of the illness itself.
I used to have sex on a daily basis, and now it's like once a month and because I force myself. My libido is gone.

Is this something permanent or will it go away once the treatment / hep c are gone?

The sexual arousal disorder in our study population was linked to both interferon-induced depressive symptoms and serum free testosterone decline (confirming the results of studies that did not find a significant correlation between total testosterone and symptoms of hypogonadism (Christ-Crain et al. 2004b)). However, we found no direct link between sex hormone changes and depression. This implies that both factors (interferon-induced depression and functional androgen deficiency) may independently affect the extent of male sexual dysfunction in patients with chronic hepatitis C and therapy with interferon alfa-2b. It is important to note that we do not postulate a causative relationship for each single factor (depression, androgen deficiency) – in contrast we propose that both may be permissive with respect to symptoms of sexual dysfunction.

Hey flcyclist :)

Yup I tested positive back on August 2011 and started the treatment on October 2011 (interferon and the daily pills that go along with it: Copegus 600mg)

i started zoloft 2 months before tx...that was it for me...lost sex drive....i was so sick on tx that sex was something i didn't think of much....but now off tx for 3 months and almost off zoloft ...25 mil per day...i'm doing fine

So many variables to consider and may not be just related to HCV and trt.  Since this is your first post and don't give any info in your profile,  did you test positive for HCV and are you currently treating?
