Is ammonia smell in sweat a sign of liver disease?

I went to wash my boyfriends shirt today and it was drenched in what I thought was a bottle of  ammonia. I later realized it was him sweating an ungodly amount again and it smelled like ammonia. He had pancreatic a few years ago and is diabetic now. He also does not take his diabetes medication and He still drinks beer almost everyday. I worried this could be liver or kidney disease. Anyone help would be great!
