Long Eyelashes

I had seen the term 'llama lashes' on this forum before and it's true!  Went to see Bonnie Raitt and put on make-up (which I never do) and looked like a mascara commercial.  Add that to the ghostly paleness and maybe I looked a little more like "The Queen of the Damned" instead of Cindy Crawford.

How long does it last?  Disappear immediately after finishing TX or do I get to enjoy it a little while?

i also noticed the Llama lashes!  They are the only thing that makes me look alive. They are so long they touch my sunglasses.   I don't understand it.   My hair on my head is now totally thin & dry.  Eye lashes not so thick anymore.  The hair doesn't even grow on my arms or legs anymore. No need to shave or wax.   But, I have those Llama lashes!!

Yeowza...96 consecutive weeks!  You certainly earned every one of those wire-brush out-of-control eyebrows and I hope you wore them proudly. :)

Yup it's a pretty site...lol...but hopefully, you won't get to laugh at yourself as much as I do at myself cuz I got hit with about all the cosmetic crud that treatment can offer.  :)  Actually, if you've gotten to week 23 without much of these things showing up yet, you might end up missing out on them.

Thanks Jamie817!

I actually started using the cold compresses too until I read something on an eye website that said to do the warm/hot.  I've been doing the warm/hot for the past week or so and it has helped.  I'm pretty sure mine is an allergy thing too and, in fact, I'm pretty sure it's an allergy to the treatment meds.  I take Zyrtec and Zantac combo for it now (switched from benadryl) but it doesn't totally help.  I appreciate your tip on this!

Soooo, Llama lashes, hair on my face , eyebrows that stick out  and the hair off my head
along with everything else, I can't wait.  I'm laughing so hard with the visual I'm having about myself. I'm on week 23 of 48

My husbands eyebrows went all weird while he was on treatment too!!  Anyway, about the red puffiness around eyes...I'm not on treatment but I get it very bad because of allergies...itchy, dry, flaky skin, sometimes so bad, my eyes have been swollen shut.  I was always putting cold compresses on them until someone told me to put a hot compress (as hot as you can stand it) on my eyes and it was amazing, it took the puffiness away.  It has something to do with opening the pores around the eyes.  I hope this helps someone.

I think the styles go with low platelets.  Also, as my hair started thinning a little, new hair started growing in at the hairline.  Did the same thing with both pregnancies.  I think there is something hormonal that the interferon is doing.  It's not enough to go through menopause, we still gotta put up with more weird stuff.

I really like the eyelash think and may have to wear mascara every day (if the styles don't come back).

Bonnie was great. She did do 'Angel'.  6 mos. into TX, I dreaded going to be stuck in lines and stomped on by crowds but we had good seats, got right in and now that we don't drink any more (and so dehydrated) we never even had to get up till concert was over.  A really good experience.  I don't ever feel like doing anything anymore but I'd go again.

My eyelashes were llama lashes too. I had even posted about this while I was treating.
I couldnt wear mascara I looked like a llama freak. I mentioned this to my hepatoligist at U of M and he said he never heard of this.

Well it was strange yet from what I hear common......
And yet I lost hair in all other places.....

I couldnt even wear my glasses because of it.
Long llama lashes with red circles around my eyes..and no  hair...I looked marvelous darlin!!
And thensome!!!

Oh, darn it!  I was hoping the skin issues around my eyes would go away after tx.  Don't tell me the treatment wrinkles stick around afterwards.

Today, it took a ton of concealer to cover up the redness around my eyes before I could even head out the door to work and, of course, then the concealer is a bit heavy and makes the wrinkles look even worse...lol.   I know it's all just a cosmetic issue and things could be a LOT worse, but it is a distressing issue nonetheless.

I got the llama lashes a couple weeks after my eyebrows went weird...guess it kinda balances things out. And it was like...BANG!...one day they weren't there and the next they were! Like newleaf, I noticed mine when I was putting on mascara and the wand kept on going....Looking like Twiggy eyes now, but this is one sx I won't complauin about!

I had skin issues too.  I had styes quite a few times and I never never had a stye.  I still have skin issues around my eyes, they have wrinkled pretty bad and my upper lid needs a tuck. I guess the whole face needs a tuck but I scar so easy now it would be a mess LOL

I had llama lashes up until about week 24 of TX and then they started falling out...just like my eyebrows...and just like the hair on my head.  I don't think that happens to everyone quite as drastically as it has me.  I think typically the llama lashes last as long as normal lashes and then gradually fall out and are replaced with regular lashes as treatment ends.  I, unfortunately, have bare spots where my lashes were and there are a few tiny thin hairs trying to grow instead of sturdy lashes.  Not a cute look at all.  :)

I have had skin issues around my eyes from treatment since about the time my lashes fell out so I think part of the reason they fell out is from the skin issues.  Itchy red puffy skin around my eyes and that is not a good environment for lashes at all.

Enjoy your llama lashes...I loved them when I had them.  :)

Annie, forget about not shaving the legs, that hair grows faster, mine did & still does.

My friend lost her eyebrows while on TX. I'm waiting to not have to shave my legs. I'm just losing the hair on my head, and it just started at 1/3 of the way through. I'm hoping I have enough to make it through to the end and not be too noticeable.
