Lower Platelets Post Tx

We know liver damage can lower platelet count.
We know INF tx can lower platelet count.

My platelets have always been in the 200s pre tx and during a 60 wk tx.
Baseline 235 , Wk 58 they were 261 , EOT 235 , 4wks post 186 and
now 18 wks post 156 !!

Also WBCs are still low 3..7  (3.8-10.8) @ 4.5 months post ?

Anybody seen their platelets going down AFTER tx ?

First and most importantly:
If you are concerned about any effects from treatment or any health issues you should consult a doctor. We are not doctors and we have no idea of the status of your health besides hepatitis C and possibly and liver disease you may have. There are many other conditions that can affect platelet counts that are not related to treatment or hepatitis C and unfortunately just because we have or have had hepatitis C for done get a free pass on other conditions or illnesses.

There are some basic understanding of platelet counts that are incorrect in your post.

"We know liver damage can "lower" platelet count."
* Liver damage does NOT cause "lower" platelet counts. Only stage 4 cirrhosis causes LOW, not "lower", out of normal range, platelet counts. This is caused by portal hypertension that only occurs in cirrhotics. Thrombocytopenia can be problematic if it becomes severe (less than 50,000). But even moderate platelet counts of 50,000-75,000 have no symptoms or complications. Us cirrhotics live with moderate platelet counts for many years.

Your platelet counts are all within norms. Peoples platelet counts vary all the time. That is why there is a range (a big range - 150,000-400,000) not one number that is normal. They go up, they go down over time. Besides nothing you do, fish oil aspirin, vitamins, etc, etc. will increase your platelet count over time.

Good luck.

Can Omega3 Fish oil lower platelet counts ?
I took 1g of Aspirin 3-4 days prior to test but somehow I don`t think that`s enough to lower platelets.

Going to retest after stopping Omega 3s but it was never a problem before.

My platelets are still in lab reference normal range however I have run
so many labs over the past 3 years with and without virus that I know
my own personal reference range very well and 156 platelets is
lowest low ever for me. After tx platelets are supposed to rebound if
anything not drop...
