Lung inflammation

My baby sister is in ICU, on life support (intubation) the doctors say there is something wrong with her lungs but all tests come clean of fungus, bacteria, viruses. Her lungs are swollen, they can't do a biopsy of her lung because she is too weak, she is on 100% oxygen and she has gone all the way to only receiving 20%. The doctors are stumped they don't know what to do. They want to send her to a research clinic but she is to weak even to get a cat scan. Is there any kind of accidental poinsoning that can cause this? like home cleaning products or plant ferterlizers. We are so distraught because we feel helpless. She has two children on of them autistic. They need their mother. She had been self medicating herself for a while with medications from mexico,  (no health insurance) the doctors over there told her it was lupus but that came back negative. Has anyone heard of a situation like this?

Wow, I’m sorry to hear of your problems; it sounds like your sister is struggling badly right now. I wish I could offer you some insight, but most of us in here are Hepatitis C patients, and not doctors. Medhelp might have a pulmonary forum, but it sounds like you need to talk with a doctor. You and your sister have my very best wishes for her quick recovery, and I hope all works out well soon.

Take care—

Bill

Very sorry to hear your sister is having such a difficult time but this is a hepatitis C forum (disease of the liver)  and there aren't any doctors here to advise you.
