Med dosage and storage question

I just received my meds yesterday and have some questions.

The dosage of PegIntron says 150mcg. I noticed that it seems everyone is taking 180mcg. Does my dosage sound right?

I am a 2a w/ VL of 5.8 million. Stage 2 grade 2.
Not sure if it makes a difference, but I have both HepC and HepB.

Also, I’m pretty sure I am supposed to keep the injections in the refrigerator….right?  What about the Ribavirin? That doesn’t need refrigeration does it? Both were shipped in a Styrofoam cooler.

Yep, my husband is on the same doseage... we keep his in the door, cool but not where they can freeze since our fridge sometimes freezes things in the crisper and the middle of the fridge.
Take care, good luck with your treatmeint.  Wishing you UND/SVR soon!   Janet

Okay...I get it now. Good call on the Pegasys vs Peg Intron. Just looked it up on their web site and 150 is the highest dose for the "RediPen"

Thanks

"180" is the standard dosage for Pegasys. You state you're on "Peg Intron" which is made by a different manufacturer and dosed differently by weight. The most common forumulations of Peg Intron need to be refrigerated and I therefore assume so does yours since it was shipped in a styrofoam container. The ribavirin can be stored at room temperature. Like in your case, my ribavirin was also shipped in the styrofoam along with the peg. Probably just easier to pack them together.

Yes most of us take 180mcg. I don't know the answer as to why your doc gave you 150mcg.

The injections, yes, go in the refrigerator and the riba room temp. My riba wasn't in with the injections in the cooler - they were separate. I don't know if that makes a difference that yours were in the cooler - doubt it, cause they wouldn't freeze in that thing, but dunno for sure. My post will bump you back up and hopefully someone that has more answers will see your post. I feel like the official bumper- uhmper tonight.

Good luck with your treatment,
MO
