No Energy

Hi everyone I'm on my 9th week of tx . I have about 3 good hrs a day and the rest is a waste . Anybody have any hints on how to boost my energy levels while on tx . I'd  need to go back to work and can not seem to get out of bed some days . I've been walking twice a day and increasing the distance and this is not changing my energy levels much . Would it be safe to push for more? I'm losing weight as well but do not want to let that get out of hand either .  Thanks , Jan

I think you are doing wonderful to make yourself get some walking.  Smaller meals throughout the day is the only thing I can think of along with maintaining potassium.  I dozed throughout my entire tx my bloodcount was so low.

I sipped on a lot od low sodium organic chicken broth & used neutrogena sesame oil to help with the dry skin, feels so nice and smells nice & light too.  It also helped with hubby or someone insisting on more drinks of water when I didn't want it.  Also sweedish fish were great for me, taste good and lubed the mouth.

Sorry, I didn't pay attention, DUHhhh, ------energy levels, I had 3 good hours some days (zero on other days) and not a darn thing helped to give me more.  I gave in to it, did what I could and the rest got done when I could.

Hey Jan. It looks like you have gone into the "fatigue phase". The meds rip your blood apart (your #'s dont look too bad, but you may have just had a sudden drop, and are still trying to compensate...).The dry is from the ribavirin...Most of us have to resort to using stuff like Aveeno bath products, Oragel mouth moisturizing gel (don't waste your money on the gum -it only lasts about 10 min), and packing a juice or water bottle wherever we go...Personally, I like the Trident xylitol gums...and popsicles...:) good old-fashioned sun tea is a nice water replacement...As long as your urinating at least 1/hr, you're as hydrated as you're going to get...I'm not sure there is complete relief from the dryness issues...somebody else have some input?                          ~Melinda

Are you taking any vitamins?  I found that drinking lots of water and taking vitamins helped.  What is your Hgb?  If that gets too low, you won't have much energy no matter what you do.

I hope you feel better soon!
