What genotype are you?  There are new drugs coming out pretty soon that should reduce treatment duration and up your chances of success if you are a geno 1.  Have you had a biopsy? Do you know your stage of liver damage?  Your question can be much more accurately answered if you tell us these things.  But the short answer is, no, there are other options, but right now all of them do include interferon and ribavirin.

I was diagnosed last August and I am in my 3rd week of treatment with Interferon(my side effects are joint pain and fatigue). Of course everyone is different and the doctors are obligated to tell you every possible side effect, but my 4 year old was diagnosed with hepc at the same time and after 2 injections the viral load was undetectable (he suffered no side effects at all). He of course had to remain on it for a year and finishes in August of this year. I say all this to comfort you. The side effects are not so bad that you cannot function, but you have to expect to keep yourself positive and all will be well. Do not know of any other options, but I was new to all of the lingo myself. Dont be afraid of all the talk.
