No never. Just thought with anemia reduced oxygen causing all these problems it made sense.
Sorry I missed you comment about having COPD. At least Susan was observant. Have you been taking oxygen prior to tx?
Since you have COPD you would need to be very careful taking oxygen. Your doctor and/or nurse should talk w/ you and make sure that you understand this.
Hope you feel better soon.
It would be nice if oxygen availability was the simple answer. Of course if this was the case all these people on dialysis and chemo ad hcv tx would be hooked up to tanks. Hector has given you the answer, you're getting .enough air into your lungs, but when low on reds and hgb your bodies Ability to deliver it where needed is limited. Good to try and think out of the box though
Dave.
Oxygen won't help improve the amount of oxygen delivered to the body tissue. The issue is your red blood cells which perform this function have been reduced. So you need to have more RBCs to improve the situation.
Red blood cells are the principal means of delivering oxygen (O2) and nutrients to the body tissues via the blood flow through the circulatory system. They take up oxygen in the lungs and release it while squeezing through the body's capillaries. This is why low RBC counts can cause...
Fatigue
Weakness
Short of breath
Increase in your heart rate
Dizzy or lightheadedness when you change positions quickly
Bring more oxygen into the body will not cure the main part of the chain that has become less effective. The RBC that use the arteries and veins to transport oxygen and nutrients to body tissues.
Hector
!(◎_◎;) this is my anemia face! Thanks guys. I am adding O2 to my list of questions. It makes sense to me.
I have the same thing..wow I got my procrit yesterday and it helped some, hopefully it will help more as it gets more in my system..I couldn't even make my bed, I felt like I ran twenty miles and walking up my stairs I felt as though I was climbing a mountain. Today was a lot better..God bless.. just get the procrit in you asap..
Triplecrown: Wow, that's an idea. Oxygen. Procrit coming not soon enough, something we all fear but seems unavoidable. I wish our med professionals could time things out better for us. You are holding on so well. Keep up the good work. Thanks for showing us how to do it. Do you know your levels, Hmg?
Can-do-man: Hold on - he he he he he - still laughing - he he he. Damn you are a jewel.
Not something i've read here of someone getting, though the thought of taking one from one of those blue hairs flying by me on their walkers during tx did cross my mind.
Only a couple of problems, first i would never had caught them and second the fear of them kicking the crap out of me,
Hang in there, when the procrit kicks in you will feel better.
