Pain Pills

First off let me say that I'm sorry for all the posts I'm just trying figure things out before starting tx here soon. I read somewhere that people on here take pain pills during tx. Is that because of prolonged treatment such as if you have geno 1 or is that normal for everyone? I have geno 2 and treatment should only last 24 weeks (thank god) but I really, really hate pain pills. I want to avoid them at all costs.

Never needed opiates either.  Probably could of used them a few times, but worked through it with over the counter pain relievers.  Pain thresholds are different for everyone.  Mine is pretty high and didn't want to get in the "habit" of turning to pain pills because tx was causing discomfort.  Glad I kept that attitude, has forced me to cope much better.

If you don't want to take them you sure don't have to.

Some people experience a good deal of pain from some of the meds (like Neupogen) and other people just get bone aches and muscle aches and headaches..........you really have to see how you do personally with the whole pain issue - but certainly if you just want to take a tylenol, you can do that.  I treated for 72 weeks and didn't really need them at all.

Thanks for posting yes I was worried about opiates they are not for me!! I think if I only do have six months of treatment they shouldn't be needed or atleast I don't think they should.

It depends on what you mean by pain pills. Tylenol and or Advil are taken by just about everyone on treatment. I took quite a few advil a day while treating for 24 weeks. Every single day I woke up I took 2 advil with my morning coffee. Then I took them as needed for the rest of the day.
If you are referring to Opiates, I took Vicodin for a while because of the severe pain my throat infections were causing. Most people don't need the Opiates but I did for a while.
I was a Geno 3a and I am waiting on pins and needles for my 26 week post treatment Viral load to come back. If I am still UND then I am free and clear and the sufferring was worth it.
   Good luck to you.
