My insurance company shows $4,564.23 per month for the retail on Victrelis.  Although my copay should be $60, Merck has a coupon good for 12 months on up to a $200 copay so I don't pay anything for the Vic.

Wow thank you guys
My insurance company keeps quoting me wrong price
And I want to know what I am getting into
My md too busy to talk to me

So Vic is more weeks
I know I will need 48 weeks I am 1B with TT phenotype
Probably will go full if I am lucky enough to show positive response
So I want to know what I am getting into

I understand the Inc dosing but not the Vic

I know there is a 4 week lead in of only interferon and RIBA
Then the Vic but do not know how many weeks of all 3?
And then do you go back to just the 2?
Thank you for taking the time to explain in advance

I remember seeing a post that tallied the total cost of Vic triple  and Inc triple.   The Inc triple was about $20K more.

I looked up the prices on line and found this information:

Vertex Pharmaceuticals producing telaprevir as incivek, set a  wholesale price of $49,200 for a 12-week regimen, which works in combination with pegylated interferon and ribavirin; after which pegylated interferon and ribavirin are to be continued for as few as another 12 weeks.

Merck's boceprevir marked as Victrelis has a wholesale price of $1,100 per week, or between $26,400 and $48,400 for a course of treatment, depending on needed duration.

http://clinicianonnet.blogspot.com/2011/05/boceprevir-and-telaprevir-for-hepatitis.html

I am taking Incivek and I know it costs $17,700 per 4 weeks (so $4425 per week) just for the Incivek. $17,000 is the amount my insurance company is paying per 4 weeks. (That is even higher than the May 2011 quoted price noted above.)

I tried to look up Victrelis on my insurance pricing guide but it is not listed yet. I know they have it, but the price is not posted yet. The reason I know how much my insurance co. is paying for the Incivek is because it is listed after the fact (ie: my co-pay was $..... and the insurance co. paid $.....

Guess i am not much help in answering your question.

Per month cost no, over all cost about the same, inc is only taken for 12 wks so per month cost is higher than vic
