Question? and new posts

What would you say have been your worst weeks/or time during TX.
I am still fairly early into TX this time. I don't remmember which were the worst weeks during my first TX in 2000 on that tx after the first month they were all pretty bad.
I know everyone is differant and that there are many differant factors, I just want to see if we can get enough responses to get some sort of a pattern.

               Thanks,

Im riding this month out light work load this month. I planned it this way...I have appt Sept 13(GI)..I can't see myself working like this much longer.  I can't even get my house in order since having my carpets cleaned a couple of weeks ago.....It seems like work is all i have been able do these past several weeks, with hardly being able to cope some days........Each day is different.....but, basicly  i have run out of physical engery......Thanks for your comment......Going to be  a scarey long month.......If i get worst im to go to the emergy room or to the GI on and Monday.......(Monday's is when they are in the office)well, in the meantime im praying for each day.......Deb

WOW! 8.9! I am out of breath at 10.7! I am on Procrit and will be until I am done. I hope you get approved, especially with your line of work, you need the energy to help those folks> GL
I am awed how some can continue functioning at that hgb level while others are gasping at a tad below 11.

Well, I was at full dose of Riba a couple of months ago my hemmo dropped from 10.6 to 9.3 and they cut the Riba back to 800. After a month hemmo increased to 10.9 and i asked to increase Riba again......doc agreed.....then in month dropped to 9.3 again and then next month to 8.9.....Im coasting right now at 8.9 and wbc dropped alittle low and he reduced Pegasys to 3/4cc
........so, im coasting this month........There was some debate with the doctor about Procrit, problems with insurance covering/sides etc.....i think i have them resolved.......I hope i skate through til next GI appt without any fallin out somewhere.....  :)

my dr lowered mine from 1000 to 800 and my hgb was 10.2 at that time. It was about 3 months into tx. 600 seem a little low, but then your hgb was lower than mine. Procrit does not seem to work for some folks, so maybe your doc is trying to avoid more damage, quick. How long is he lowering for? If it is  a couple of weeks and you already got your negative 12 wk Pcr, I would not sweat it too much. Longer than two weeks maybe you can negotiate?

Weeks 10-14 were my worst, and I didn't need Procrit or  Nuepogen, but did start Vioxx because of low plateletes. Good luck, Joni

The week before my first shot was pretty tense. Felt pretty good until about week 7 or 8.
Hair  started falling out around #15
WBC/RBC bottomed out # 20
Had to stop TX at #27 , relapsed 30 days later.

My doc never mentioned reducing my Riba when he put me on Procrit.  My hgb dropped to 8 something or other so it was a little lower than yours.  I agree - try to stay on full dose if at all possible, but your doc knows your specifics better than anyone.  I would at least ask him to keep you on full dosage unless he/she has some compelling reason to reduce.  Also, I was under the impression that when I did the Procrit injection, I would feel better in a day or two.  WRONG.  It took about 10 days to actually notice a big difference, so don't expect anything to happen over night.  But once it kicks in, you will be amazed at how much better you feel.  Take care.

I think my worse time on tx was first 6 weeks.  Beginning tx,,,all labwork perfect and then after starting meds,,,major drops in rbc and others. I was horrifed to say the least,,,thinking "how on earth am I going to get through a year of this".  Well things got much better and doable and was on road to SVR again,,,when WHAM,,,6th month(July) and until now,,,,Just flat have not been feeling good so praying this will pass quickly and I will be back on track.  You know,,,we talked about headaches and I got another one yesterday during day and lasted until 3 in morning,  I hate that because you can't see light or it really effects you and it gets worse.  Anyways,,,have call into to dr to get relief as so many suggested some great stuff for headaches and also itching.  These sides,,,just no pattern that I can track with myself as my numbers are up on bloodwork so why am I getting the headaches and flu like symptoms again at nighttime????  When we are good on tx,,,We are great!  And when we are bad,,,,Can really be bad!! LOL  Take care and hope your sides let up for ya!!

I just wanted to add that even if I hadn't gotten SVR, I would still go through it all over again because of the improvement in my liver health.   Joni

I would think that with the procrit your Hmg will either stabilize or increase. I would ask if you can stay with the dose of ribavirin and have labs in a week. Your Hmg is not dangerously low at this point and with the procrit I wouldn't expect it to decrease. I think it's a good idea to maintain ribavirin dose if at all possible. Mike

Hi everyone,
congratulations to all with good news lately. I'm on week 15 and this nasty riba has eaten up all my rbc's as well. My M.D. has started me on Procrit and has also instructed me to cut my Riba from 1000mg to 600 mg. I'm really concerned cutting my Riba down this low. MY hgb starting was 14 and has steadily dropped to 9.3. Any comments from others with similar experience would be appreciated.

I'd say it was roughest when my RBC, HCT and HGB tanked and I had to beg for Procrit about 6 weeks into tx.  The last couple months of tx (48 weeks in total) seemed to go awfully slow too.

Worst weeks were 10 -16.  Riba ate up my red blood cells and I couldn't hardly get out of bed, nevermind going up steps, without feeling like my lungs were going to collapse.  Got on Procrit and that saved the day.  Other than that, my sides have been very manageable (my husband may disagree.  For some reason, he thinks I have developed a nasty disposition, but I don't have a clue as to what he's talking about and who cares anyway????? - Joking of course)

For some reason (reviewing my log on Pegassist.com), the time around week 7 seemed to be bad for me.  I got overconfident sailing along and then wham!  Major fatigue was the main culprit.  Now at week 15, I have good and bad days (and have really grown to appreciate the good ones!).  Sides seem to be getting slightly better lately (knock wood) - with good days outnumbering the bad.
