Ahhh...you have a doc that thinks like the doc that I originally had but I fired him. My first GI absolutely refused to do a pre-treatment viral load on me. He said wasn't interested in that number and all he cared about was that when he checked my viral load at 12 weeks that it had to be undetectable (and he refused to do a 4 week viral load). I got on this site and found out immediately that he was full of crappola and, at the insistence of the good people on this site, I found myself a new doc prior to starting my Tx.
I'm sorry you are in such a situation. What does your doc say about your VL still being at 23 million? Does he think you should continue with TX? I know you want to continue with TX but I think this doc has kind of messed up your TX based on him not taking a pre-treatment viral load and based on lowering your interferon instead of giving you Neupogen.
I don't mean to sound so negative but I seriously think you need to seek a second opinion immediately so that you can find out how to proceed. I don't think your present doc knows enough to guide you though this successfully.
Barbie...let me know how this turns out. I care.
yes this is the same Barbie i had to create a new account for some reason I could not log into my old account. You know I thought 23 million was high as well the messed up part of this whole thing is that when I started treatment they never checked my viral load the dr went off my labs from 2007 wich were at 24 million so there is no way to know if the treatment has made any significant change in my viral load I was taking 180 mcg of pegesys alpha 2a then he dr lowered my dose 2 135mcg due too my white blood cells dropping to low. The last viral load of 23 million was at 3 months into treatment. I don't want to stop this treatment, So I need to find a way to get threw this. i think the next time i get my viral load it will help me to make a better choice. How is your treatment coming along?
I'm sure being bipolar has a lot to do with what you're going through.
I gotta agree with desrt, maybe you need to try another day. Sometimes it's just too big of a price mentally to endure the tx, especially if you haven't reached UND in 5 months. I suggest you see your doctor. good luck and God Bless
Barb, I'm assuming you're barbiewhite that started TX about the same time I did. I agree with desrt that maybe you need to have a good talk with your doc about whether or not it's a good idea for you to continue TX. I say that because of your viral load still being at 23 million after 5 months of TX. Is that correct or did you have a typo there? If 23 million after 5 months is correct, then you seriously need to reconsider whether you should continue TX right now. Most docs will stop tx at 3 months if there's not a 2 log drop. And, also since you are having the raging mental side effects.
I am so sorry you are going through this but please speak to you doc as soon as possible about what is the best way to proceed based on your VL statistics. Let me know how this turns out.
You need to stop the IFN/riba if your viral load is 23,000,000 after 5 months of treatment. Take a break and wait for bettermeds to be approved.
THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENT BACK FRETBOARD **** I FELL LIKE IAM GOING NUTAS RIGHT NOW I AM SO MANIC I CAN'T STAND IT EVERYONE AROUND ME CAN'T STAND ME AND DO I BLAM THEM NO. UNFORTUNATLY I AM GOING TO BE NTHIS TREATMENT FOR AT LEAST A YEAR MY VIRAL LOAD IS AT 23 MILLION RIGHT NOW ONLY WENT DOWN A MILLION IN THE PAST 3 MONTHS I KNOW THE VICODIN ISN'T GOOD BUT NEITHER IS THE PAIN SO WHAT ELSE IS THERE ? GOD I NEED TO PRAY MORE THATS WHAT I NEED
Sorry you're going thru this most difficult transition, especially being so close to 6 months. I hope you're only txing for 6 months and I'm sure that you've heard that statistically speaking being bipolar, that you may be in for a rough ride b/c of the inteferon. I'm absolute certain that you can do this as your doctor wouldn't have chanced it and if you were to have that bad of a time, you would have thought that it would've happened sooner. Tx is of course different for everyone, bipolar or not, so now is the time that you have to pull out your best ideas that have worked for you in the past or something that calms you down a little bit. Also, and I know you may not want to hear this, but that's ok. Slow down on the vicodin. God Bless
