Hello everyone! Today I got the biggest shock of my life. I am 24 years old who just recently graduated from UGA & just starting nursing school. I have never done intravenous drugs (although I do occasionally smoke marijuana), I've never had a blood transfusion, I've never had a needle stick, & I've never been in contact with anyone that has hep C (that I know of) ... And yet today I got the results from a blood test that was taken at a fertility clinic (I was in cycle to donate my eggs) & it stated that I had reactive Anti-HCV EIA & indeterminate HCV-RIBA 3.0. Overall it came back as Inconclusive - RIBA Indeterminate. This is really confusing since I had the same round of tests completed in April & I was negative for hep C.
Does this mean that I have hep C? I've already been to a LapCorp today once I got the results & had another hep C test done & I will get the results on Thursday. I'm just really lost. I have absolutely no idea how I could have acquired hep C if it ends up that I do have it. I'm extremely distraught over this turn of events.
If this recent test comes back indeterminate as before, does this mean that I should go to LabCorp again & have them run a HCV quantasure plus test just to know for sure? Thanks everyone!
