Rash/ Eczema on scalp

I started to feel ithcy in some ares on my scalp and behind the ears since Fri. I had a hair cut and the hairdressed told me that I have some eczema on my skin. Today I feel the skin behind my ears very sensitive and dry/ rough. It hurts a bit. It is impossible for me to look at it due to its position but I guess it has to do with the meds

Soooo, I have lots of creams for other areas but what to do for the scalp? Is not that I can put Aveeno on it

Any  ideas, suggestions? I hope it will not get worst

I've had a number of bouts with eczema over the years, with my scalp being frequently affected. My dermatologist once told me I had the worst case she had ever seen! Her Rx for me was fluocinonide topical solution, 0.05%. I was instructed to wash my hair every day with a mild hypoallergenic shampoo and only slightly warm water, then apply a little bit of solution carefully, so as to treat all affected areas of the scalp without wasting it on the hair. This method works well for me. Small bouts can be nipped in the bud now that I know what to do, but the first extreme bout took a long time to completely clear up (though it improved a lot within a few days). Once I got it under control I can generally keep it there with daily shampooing and only very occasional use of the fluocinonide. Best wishes!

I used Desert Essence Shampoo and Conditioner, with Tea Tree Oil and Peppermint, as the ingredients.
I also took an anti-itch pill, called Atarax, which worked well. And I also
conditioned my scalp with products like coconut oil(  pure, organic) and a product called Waxalene, which contained soy bean oil, vitamin e oil, and bees wax.  I also used bee pollen.

I had the exact opposite thing happen to me with heat. The hotter I got, the worse the rash, hives, itching, psoriasis got. Also sun, I accidentally got in the sun (and heat) for a short time one day and the psoriasis went wild.

The psoriasis is interferon induced (autoimmune disorder). While I hope yours will clear up soon with appropriate treatment, it is quite possible it will stay with you throughout the duration of treatment and even afterwards until the drugs are out of your system. Antihistamines may help with itching, but antihistamines will not clear up psoriasis. You need steroids or other drugs that will actually clear the psoriasis.

"In patients suffering from chronic hepatitis C Interferon (IFN) therapy can induce various side effects, especially of autoimmune type; of these, thyroiditis, thrombocytopenia, systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis are the most frequent. A certain susceptibility for immunologic abnormalities [1] plays a key role. Further more, side effects can also occur involving the skin including vasculitis, necrosis, ulceration, and alopecia [2,3]. Exacerbation of pre-existent psoriasis [3-6] and induction of psoriasis have also been described [7]."

Clobetasol has been working for me too....i love the stuff. also, i take Zertec antihistimine everyday and i find that helps too. it was suggested by my treatment nurse. a hot shower works great too, as the heat releases the histimine in your system.

I used Clobetasol 0.05% Solution on my scalp. It worked well for me. I used it last winter and spring when I had the hives and other rashes on my scalp and l also used it when I developed psoriasis on my scalp last summer. It works well. I had to use it a long time for the psoriasis to clear up.

For the face and ears I used Hydrocortisone Valerate Cream 0.2%. This worked well on the psoriasis on my face and ears although it took a long time to clear up. Sometimes I would rub it up into the scalp that was bordering my face and hairline.

Because the psoriasis was on my scalp and face, I had to have different types of creams and solutions. Obviously you cannot put ointment in your hair (I had ointment for my trunk). Thus the Clobetasol soln.  Be careful not to get it near your eyes or get it so close to the forehead that it runs into the eyes.

The Hydrocortisone Valerate cream I used behind the ears, the ears, the face, the forehead, and even the eyelids and right under the eyes. You cannot get it in the eyes so one has to be very careful and not use too much around the eyes (but one has to use some or it won't clear up).

With any luck yours will clear up fast, but just to warn you, my psoriasis appeared in mid July and I am still dealing with the very last vestiges of it now, in mid-Dec. It is almost gone, maybe by Jan. 1st.

I would recommend getting on top of this ASAP. I developed the Loris look from the psoriasis (my profile photo, LOL). As noted, it is almost gone now, but I had that "look" for a while. I think the earlier you get on top of it the better.

Hope yours clears up fast.
