I don’t think Triamcinolone is an antifungal preparation; it sounds like you might benefit from a trip to the dermatologist, especially if this has been a problem for long time. If it is a yeast infection, they can be very persistent; I know this from personal experience.

There are oral/systemic antifungal drugs that can be used in conjunction with topical preparations if it is indeed a fungus. It is very important to take the full course of treatment, exactly as ordered to be effective, by the way.

Are you diabetic, by any chance? Yeast/fungal infections are common in people that have poorly controlled blood sugar, and combined with summer heat can make a perfect environment.

Before this began, were you taking any antibiotics?

Ask for a referral to a dermatologist if this persists; it sounds miserable. Best of luck—

Bill

"I have been off treatment for over a year and half and this rash drives me nutts.. Hurts like hell..."

Whoa - you're OFF TREATMENT and have this rash? What does the doctor say about it? It probably has nothing to do with the treatment drugs, since their long gone.

Ask to see a dermatologist.

I've had psoriasis for almost as long as Hep C, 30-35 years. After beginning tx they gave a script for triamcinolone 1%, which works as well, if not better, as anything b4. And it's cheap too! 4$ a Wally-World. Stick with it, it'll work. Stay strong.

I had the rash from hell under both armpits while treating.  Initially, my treating doctor thought it was a fungus and prescribed and anti fungal but it did not work.  I went through different phases with it, itching, burning, dryness and at one point it was as if I had a chemical burn under both arms.  My skin actually drew up like a burn victim, crusted over and peeled which was very painful.  I ended up going to the dermatologist and he gave me a cortisone based cream, sorry can't remember the name of it.  I applied the RX twice daily plus loaded my skin down with Aquaphor which is used for diaper rash but is very hydrating.  It cleared up and to this I do not know what exactly caused the rash.

Armpit rashes s-u-c-k!!!

Rash is one of the sx of Riba, so as long as you are taking that, you could have the rash. Just keep that cream handy, and at the first sign of a new break out, put some on.

If the cream works use.  I had the rash, it got better after the earlier part of treatment.
